The Biblical Realities of Hell

Because your headed there in a hand basket! It will look like this : :boxedin:

There is one of those loving attacks by one of those persons that is so-called a Jesus follower.

Paul

More proof that they are at the end of their rope.

Outside of the bible, there is no record of it.

Also, did you know that all the people that wrote the NT never met Jesus, all that was written about Jesus was 20 or more years after he was suppose to have lived? And still they couldn’t get all the stories the same.

So with knowing that, why should anyone believe without proof a hell made by a so-called loving god.

Paul

Bull spit!
All witnesses have a different perspective and recollection of what they wanted in print.
You left out all the witnesses that didn't write this down who passed it on generation to generation by word of mouth.

The writters were not witnesses, end of story.

Word of mouth, sure that is a good source, that can never be changed.

My original post is in blue.

Fascinating. In other threads, you asserted that not everything in the Bible is the literal word of God - there are man-made passages that do not reflect God's intention or God's instructions. Now you are citing a person who claims that every word in the Bible must be taken to be inviolate Truth and nothing can be dismissed as not coming directly from God.

What's your point?
We are all Christians and agree on all most everything?

Of course not, why would you even ask if that was my point? that is nowhere near my point.

You make this out to be a misrepresentation when it's not that's the lie.

No, Edge, I did not make it out as a misrepresentation. Let's look at the actual post.

That is a fact. If you want to deny that this sentence is the truth, then I will go find the citation to support my claim that you said that.

Ladewig said:

Again, an easily verifiable fact. Not a lie - a fact. I could have been more precise and said that these passages are very limited in scope and include only very specific laws that follow the 10 Commandments, but leaving out this clarification does not make the original statement a lie, a misrepresentation, or a falsehood in any way.

Again, another fact. That statement is not a lie or a misrepresentation. You cited a person who said, "how do we know that people came out of their tombs? Because it is written in the Bible and everything in the Bible is the literal Word of God and must be true and accurate."

I was merely making a humorous observation - I was not advancing the discussion in any way. I was not adding a specific point to the matter at hand.

But as long as we are talking about the matter at hand, you later asserted that his reasoning was not the point of your citation. I must ask, what was the point of this citation? The discussion was about why no one else outside of one Gospel writer recorded the dead walking out of the tombs. How does this citation add anything to the discussion?

Stop calling me a liar. I have not lied in this thread and you know it!

Can't take a joke, wow!
Telling someone that they're going to hell, whether they believe it or not, is an act of verbal abuse.

"I was just joking" just makes it worse. Apologize, please.

No...I stand my ground you lie against Christ in every post...
Get a life.
I said this too.
There you go again lying for atheists again.
I said the O.T. in particular.
And I never said the bible I said the O.T…When you say the bible that implies the N.T. too.
And when you misrepresent what I say that’s a lie.
I never said I backed all that the particular author says, I just agree with what he says about the tombs being opened.
And this:
If you are talking in general, as I said they are trying to know God as in the Christian way, we are brothers in Christ, you make it out to be a bad thing that’s the lie.

Just because he's a fundamentalist? He could be totally right and I could be wrong so I don't discount that viewpoint or judge it.
After all who’s to stop God from the removal of evil and it’s seed?

Your god does a lot of evil things in that story book that is known as the bible.

I joined a critical thinking board because I am very much interested in improving my ability to think critically - specifically, to understand syllogisms, to recognize fallacies, to identify correctly constructed argument, and to to analyze evidence (especially unusual or rare evidence). I personally find these actives entertaining as well as enlightening. I have learned a great deal here at JREF. I believe that my life is made batter through these activities. I like to think I already have a life, so I don't need to get one. By the way, why did you come to JREF and why have you stayed so long?

As for the lying, all I can say is what I say to all people who make absurd claims, show me the evidence. Cite any particular sentence in my post and say "that statement is untrue." You cannot. The idea that my saying that you believe that not every single verse in the Bible is the Word of God is inaccurate because it is only a few OT verses that you reject is laughably ridiculous. Even the youngest of schoolchildren knows that the Bible consists of the OT and the NT. Nothing is misleading in any possible way by saying that there are some Bible verses that you place no credence in. Every verse that you reject as being a human-written product of a the times and cultures of a particular people is a Bible verse therefore it is not a lie.

You have created some personal interpretation of my post and now insist that I am a liar. I defy you to find any person who agrees that my post contained a lie.

I never said I backed all that the particular author says, I just agree with what he says about the tombs being opened.

And I never said that you did. Read the post again. Nothing I said was a lie. I said that you cited a person who believes in a literal, inerrant version of the Bible. That is not a lie. No lie was told. There is nothing untrue or misleading in that statement.

If you are talking in general, as I said they are trying to know God as in the Christian way, we are brothers in Christ, you make it out to be a bad thing that’s the lie.

It is a bad thing.1 The God of the Bible (which is approximately 33% Jesus) is a monster that deserves no respect at all. Talking about how wonderful it is to be joined in a religion that offers salvation does nothing to minimizes the absurd hurdles God placed in our path to require us to ask for and to need salvation. I have done nothing that requires a ritual blood sacrifice to "make me right." I have done nothing to require a human's death for atonement. And on the flip side, a mass murderer who on his deathbed says, "I'm sorry; forgive me for all that killing" has done nothing to deserve a full and complete pardon.

Just because he's a fundamentalist? He could be totally right and I could be wrong so I don't discount that viewpoint or judge it.

Again I have to ask, why are you at the JREF? His viewpoint can be summarily rejected because when folks like him are asked for evidence, they reply "God said it, I believe it, end of story." Until evidence can be provided, his claims deserve no more attention that the claims of the folks who say that aliens are making crop circles or that homeopathy works.

After all who’s to stop God from the removal of evil and it’s seed?

Evil?! Your Bible says that coveting one's neighbor's house is as evil as killing a person in cold blood. I hardly think fundamentalist Christians are in a position to talk about what is or isn't evil.

I was going to conclude with another request to stop calling me a liar, but instead, I'll urge you to continue to call me a liar because it will make clear to everyone your perspective in this matter.

ETA
While I am now saying it is a bad thing, there is nothing in the original post which says it is a bad thing.

Without lying about the facts that we now know, what would they have.

I still stand my ground.

If you provide evidence to support your claim, then I will change my position. What will it take for you to reconsider your position?

Oh, and whether I am a liar or not, you still didn't answer my question about why you are here. I think that is a fair question to anyone who attacks another poster by saying "get a life."

ETA: and you didn't answer my question about what you hoped to accomplish by quoting the fundamentalist. How did that citation help your argument? Why did you think it was an appropriate and useful addition to the discussion?
