This guy survived for over three weeks with no food or water after effectively going into a hibernating state. Apparently he doesn't have any permanent orgran or brain damage, which is even more amazing. This reminds me of the sci-fi "suspended animation" in Alien and 2001. It seems there's always something around the corner waiting to surprise us.

Frankly, I'm surprised that nothing came along in all that time and nibbled on him.

That's a thought. Why didn't he get eaten?
And the newspaper report I read said that he "sipped at a bottle of water" duting his ordeal, though it didn't give any more details.
At the moment, I simply don't believe the story as it stands - nobody goes three weeks without water and lives. Yet this bloke apparently still has functioning kidneys.

Hmm, hard to say on this one, there's not a lot of info there, and YahooNews hasn't exactly been one of the most reliable sources in the world...

Dunno 'bout that:

"Uchikoshi was treated for severe hypothermia, multiple organ failure and blood loss from his fall..." It certainly doesn't sound like he was unscathed.

It could just be a fluke. I understand, but don't know how correct it is, that Lance Armstrong has a highly unusual physiology. Variants do happen.

And also David Blaine. :p BTW, who's David Blane?

:duck:
He's just a one-time street magician who went off his rocker. I understand his next stunt is to survive for four weeks on an Internet forum made up of nothing but pedants.
