I have an ATP. I flew in the USAF, we have special rules, look them up.
I have set the transponder to emergency to get ATC attention, to warn them we are turning back to home, engine fire... They were busy talking, I was going to exercise my emergency authority and used the code to get their attention. Using the radio when they are talking, or other crews are talking only messes up all the communication, you have no clue...
