Not only do I have to deal with the financial situation of most of my customers having lost their jobs to illegal mexican invaders, now we got a statewide no smoking policy in bars

No more bands

When tempe and mesa passed these laws, their clubs dried up and their music scenes died

Now its statewide, I may as well just go on welfare. SInce you facist nazis love to tell me how to live my life, you may as well pay for my food

Why you need laws to ban smoking in bars has always been beyond me. If there's a market force in favor of it, then bars would do it. Why can't it just be left up to the establishment? It makes me uncomfortable to have the government intruding on things like this.

I don't like going to certain bars only to leave smelling like a$$, but it's ultimately up to me whether I want to patronize them or not.

This is one area where I agree with the libertarians. If you don't like smoke, stay out of bars that allow it. Government should stay out of this. But because most people these days don't smoke, they have no problem telling bar owners and their customers how to live.

All the anti-illegal immigrant props passed so go have a drink in your new smokeless bar.

There is a certain consistency to this: The majority punishing minorities they don't like with funky laws.

In the smoking law, you are the minority. I suppose that the trick is to always be in the majority and just be like everyone else. Good luck with that.

But guess what - MORE people came than ever! Suddenly it was OK to go to a bar and NOT be gassed by other peoples' noxious fumes. More people => more trade => more employees needed => more gigs for bands and stuff => more attractive venues for folks => more good times => more money through the till => PROFIT! Hey, I'm all for legally-gotten profit!

How big are Tempe and Mesa?

Better question: How many of their population are such addicted smokers that their absence will bankrupt a bar? Is it a bar where you go only to smoke, not drink?

tempe and mesa are decent sized, with tempe being the nightlife mecca of the entire valley, and packed like waikiki at night, standing room only

We got a lot of their business when they passed their ban, but many people just decided to stay home or do something else

I dont think the dictators understand, people go to bars when they have been having to follow rules all day

they just want to relax without fascists telling them what to do

If someone came to your hangout and told you you couldnt do the things you like to do, wouldnt you go find a new place?

We had the phnomenon of "private clubs" happening in tempe

It may be the only hope for phoenix, but private clubs mean dj's not bands

Ditto NZ. A drop at first, but soon increased beyond wildest projections.

Even better, the only sector of the pub industry which got at all hurt were pokie bars. Good job!

Get over it.
