Texas Senate GOP Candidate: "Shoot wetbacks"

Oh lordy. I'm looking over a sample ballot and trying to find out which Republican is the least horrible, and it appears that one of the people running for the Republican nomination is (and I'm not kidding) SECEDE Kilgore. Yes, he had his name legally changed. His platform has a single plank. Guess what it is.

It's so irritating just watching the commercials where they brag about how many times they sued Obama and how much time they've spent on their knees before the Lord, Ted Cruz.

It's hard to believe that this party produced elder statesmen like Eisenhower and Mark Hatfield.
Well, the "party" really didn't produce Eisenhower. He was career military who was nommed by the GOP because he was a war hero. He wouldn't have a dog's chance of winning nomination in todays GOP.

I've noticed one of them (probably Abbott) refers to himself not as the Republican candidate, but as the "Conservative" candidate, who "stands up to the Obama administration". Watching these ads, I wonder sometimes how low someone's wattage has to be to not see what pure BS they are all around.

I've managed to avoid most of the ads by not watching TV (and using a DVR when I do), but today at lunch I was captive in a restaurant that seemed to be a long string of political ads. Yes, there were a number of spots just like you suggest. I noticed Ken Paxton (running for Attorney General) was licking rather obsequiously at Cruz's bunghole.

Here's another one that Republicans repudiate, this time in Georgia, but there are far to many of these crazy people being elected by Republicans.

"Georgia lawmaker submits bill to give pedophiles access to children."

This is a subject for another thread, but the definition of "sex offender" is so broad that I don't believe in it. The outcomes of sex offender registries is that a 17 year old who had consensual sex with his 17 year old girlfriend is treated exactly the same as a 30 year old child rapist. Clearly it makes sense to isolate actual sexual predators from society, but the laws we have in place put a lot of people in the system who shouldn't be there.

No, nor would any of the giants of the Senate like Barry Goldwater or Alan Simpson, people who could govern. I have my differences with both but I can imagine having an intelligent conversation with them. Ted Cruz, not so much.

This is brought to you by "Another Great Moment in GOP Rebranding".

On the plus side, if history is any guide, eventually (light-skinned) Hispanics will be accepted as white, so this sort of thing will lessen.

And actually, just check out Ted Cruz for an example of this already happening, or Marco Rubio, or (he who shall not be named)...

Anyway, of course, the major problem is the sentiment, not the slur, and it's important to note that.

Pity, more than hate.
Unless the object of interest is getting dangerous towards one's life.
