Where in the story you linked does it say the town supports her? It would be great if they do support her and I would hope that they do indeed support her. But your linked story doesn't mention support from the town. How do we know they support her?

I'd guess because they haven't tared and feathered her yet. I didn't read the other article, but, is it a transgender woman or man, "Jess" could be either or.

I had a vague recollection that this was an old story, and looked it up, and found that the one I was thinking of was a mayor in Oregon some years ago. It sounds from the article I read as if the town is behind this one too. One can hope so. A good administrator is hard to find.
