Texas Lege May Strip Education Board of Power

This guy is cute,
"Sen. Kel Seliger, R-Amarillo, authored the bill that would remove the board's textbook and curriculum authority; it is pending in the Education Committee.

He said the ideological direction of the board is all right with him now that Republicans are in charge.

"What happens when the worm turns and my party is no longer in the majority?" Seliger asked."

I find it difficult to believe that anyone at the state level could do worse than the TX school board in terms of trying to undermine science education, but who, exactly, is it chosing books in this scenario? I don't imagine that they will let go of state level control on this, which is probably good. If hundreds of school districts are deciding independently, there would be a bunch who would go the ID route.
