#4 (Take this, metallurgy!). The other front runners (Proof by Microsoft simulation and Twin Towers: There can only be one) actually show a certain amount of applied intelligence. While the thought that people who are aware enough of the world to use a flight simulator and know that the Petronas Twin Towers exist (and have a concrete core) are simultaneously clued out enough to post what they did on an internet site is scary, the sheer cogitational failure of the poster who said "steel does not melt, ever" is truly mind-boggling.

i voted for 12

3 and 13 are getting a lot of votes, but as for 3, i myself have used MSFS to show that its fairly easy to hit a skyscraper (hit the sear tower 5 out of 5 times) or the pentagon (hit 3 out of 3) there is a video of (i think) apathoid following hanjours near exact path in MSFS to show its not hard

as for 13, i think in a later post the nominee admitted her error, this to me ruins the stundieness

12 on the other hand exemplifies the truth movements ability to just on any evidence that supports them, while completely ignoring any that contradicts them, and does so in a manner that i myself used about a year to parody them, thus proving you simply cannot strawman the truth movement

Had to go with Noam Chomsky being personally responsible for murdering all 6 billion people on the planet. I think whoever wrote that has read one too many 'Chuck Norris facts.'

Oh, how could you not like Schrodinger's terrorists? This could change quantum physics as we know it!

Chomsky the serial killer was a good effort, but in the end I had to go with unmeltable steel. I mean, the Stundies are all about nuts, but that's a properly special kind of nuts.

He is; he just thinks it'll have to be later in January. After all, we have to get the December winner so we can have the full 12 noms, and this is the December finals right here.

Didn't read the whole thread, but I was thinking--

why just for December?

maybe these "Stundies" should be collected for a longer period of time--say, a year, or something.

just a thought.

There's a set every month, caleb; this way, when we pick the annual winner, we have the creme de la creme (so to speak) of nuttiness to choose the ultimate Stundie for the year, without wading through the less worthy submissions.

Plus, I think the poll function has a limited amount of options to use; it certainly can't go up into hundreds of choices. Aren't we limited to like, fifteen or something?

As a Texas land owner, I had to go with #1...

...and all I know is if that nutjob had his way and there were 1 uninvited person per acre on my property, my ammo clip will be down 26 bullets and there will be 26 fewer people on this planet.

I had one of those "World's [blankiest] [blanks]: Caught on Tape" shows on the TV while I was working on the computer, and they showed a steel (overpass) bridge collapsing after a tanker crashed into it and caught fire. I didn't catch the city, as I wasn't paying attention right away, but the officer whose dashboard camera caught the event had a thick american southern accent and "MDPS" was imprinted on the footage. If anyone knows of this footage and it's origin (it could be Maryland Public Safety) it might be worthwhile to find it. You can see the steel bending before it breaks apart.

So much woo, so little time...

Still pondering before I vote.

Mississippi Department of Public Safety perhaps?

We should also have a poll on the best nomination description...

Like we even need to. How many times are you going to see, "Noam Chomsky, slayer of humanity!" eh? Twice if you're lucky, three times if you're around for the apocalypse in 2012.
