As usual, Ion shows the classic mark of the woo, and won't address a single fact. Is this what he means by his vaunted French education? I doubt that they teach dishonesty, abuse of the scientific method, illicit professional attacks, and an inability to face the facts about FFT's.

The people I've met with a French mathematics education were far superior to this Ion person, I wonder, could he provide evidence, i.e. name, diploma, etc, showing his actual graduation from such a place? I'm starting to think he's a complete poseur who reads the internet for a (mis)education on DSP.

I am thinking that you are a poseur in D.S.P. who doesn't know what a F.F.T. is.

So, post the full citations to those papers, including Title, all authors, journal, page, issue, date, etc, and let's see that you have any standing to "think" anything.

It's obvious that I wasn't born or grew up in the U.S..

In the U.S. I don't have family or friends, everybody to me is a stranger, I speak a foreign language because I was imported based on skills that lack without me.

Never mind Stanford, Columbia, etc, where 'publish or perish' happens.

By who, you asked?

Ask the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the U.S. Department of Labor by who and how.

Ion said:

Not really. I know people just as antagonistic, wrong, and rude as you who come from the U.S.A. It's not a function of where you come from, there's always at least one in any crowd. It's not American, French, Rumanian, or anything-ian, it's a universal property of human beings.

I could easily imagine that you're just a flamer who wanted to get into a fight, who hopes sincerely that they can continue to hide behind their "Ion" anonymity, like the spineless coward they are. If so, however, they would be quite consistent and monomanical in focus, indeed.

In the U.S. I don't have family or friends, everybody to me is a stranger, I speak a foreign language because I was imported based on skills that lack without me.

You've made that claim "imported" repeatedly. It seems like an odd way for you to state things, to say the least. There an any number of obvious questions one might ask, given your offensive attitude, but I am, frankly, being very patient with you and not asking those questions in the hope that you'll suddenly see the light of a cloudy morning, at least.

As to friends, well, if you had manners, you behaved in a civil fashion, and you didn't act out on your prejudices, you might have some friends, and perhaps eventually some family, assuming, of course, that you desire either. (I've no idea of your personal preference on this issue, ergo I qualify my statement.)

If you don't want to be a stranger, show at least a modicum of manners when you talk to people. It's not exactly mannerly of you to launch into a discussion with a bigoted remark like your bit about americans being ugly, stupid, and ignorant. Remarks like that won't make you either friends or less of a stranger. They will, however, harden peoples' attitudes about you very quickly.

Never mind Stanford, Columbia, etc, where 'publish or perish' happens.

You should consider the questions that raises immediately before you continue in that direction. One might question why you didn't mention MIT, Georgia Tech, or that sort of place, too, of course.

By who, you asked?

Ask the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the U.S. Department of Labor by who and how.

Oh, stuff and nonsense. I really, REALLY don't want to know anything about your immigration status.

We're talking about the claims you made here, the ones where you said that you were "imported". We are NOT talking about any immigration case.

But if that involves your immigration status, no, *don't* answer the question. I would, though suggest that you not bring it up in discussion, either.

On the other hand, there are lots of things to discuss:

About those published papers: Please tell us Title, Authors, Journal, Pages, Dates, etc, in the interest of furthering the scientific process.

Please provide evidence that shows that an FFT does not provide the same result as a DFT of the same length and formulation.

Please provide evidence of how FIR filters are 'Unstable', how they have "poles", how they relate to Laplace, and so on.

Explain how an N^2 process is faster than an N log2 N process for large N.

Explain why one, or 2, or 12 lines from a 160 line transform do not make a transform, only a small part of one, albeit a very useful small part.

Explain how the last question relates to the convolution theorem and Parsival's theorem.

Oh, and for the heck of it, explain the difference between a transform and a filter bank, and how each has its place in life. You can choose either critically sampled or non-critically sampled filterbanks, either paraunitary or not. Explain your choice.

Then don't talk to me.

It's a feat that you don't measure up to:

If you don't want to bring up your legal immegration status, you shouldn't raise the issue yourself.

"Don't talk to me" is a simple cheat on your part.

It's a feat that you don't measure up to:

Simply put, you haven't shown anything other than that you're willing to miseducate the world in order to attempt to justify your pathetic bigotry.

see the thread that triggered this thread 'Who makes it that "...U.S. leads the world by miles..."'.
Yep, and in the case of FFT's that would be Cooley and Tukey, not Goertzel. Your attempts to bring up spelling, different use of acronyms (mine is standard, modulo typos), your inability to admit that an FFT has the same output as a DFT of the same size, and the fact that the recursive FFT is one of the best-known examples all show your willingness to attempt to decieve the reader about the facts, simply to try to justify your still-unjustified, absolutely insane bigotry.

So, do tell me, if you think you're so great, why aren't you somebody whose name we can all know and recognize immediately? How about those issued patents? Those papers? You haven't put up a single thing that shows that you actually HAVE any professional output, of course it's probably due to the fact that you want to hide behind your pseudonym.

What are you hiding?

Could you reprahase that in a comprehensible fashion? Probably not.

Could you explain what you're arguing about, instead of telling us all the citiations to the papers you claim.

How about those publications? Where are they? Enquiring minds want to know!

Got anything confirmable and falsifiable to offer us, or are you just going 'woo' at the top of your lungs?

How about your evidence for unstable FIR's. How about the "poles" in digital FIR's that can be unstable? How about the Laplace Mathematics that reads on 'z' domain poles. How about your order N^2 transform that's faster than an N log2 N transform for large N.

Come on, where's the beef?

I once listened to Sumo wrestling on the radio.

Stick to subjects in which you have SOME degree of competency, my imported friend. English grammar isn't one of them.

I confess I'd like to see your credentials, too. We all know jj's.

No you didn't. Look further up. Or possibly in the other questions for Ion thread. It's easy to get confused in here.

Apparently you haven't any credentials to show.

Or do you? All you have to do is to cite those papers, completely, and tell us which author you are, for completeness.

jj- Leaving insults aside, what will it prove if Ion does or does not have a publication record? He clearly knows a great deal about this stuff by comparison with most of us, or you would not have been arguing with him for days. You are giving him credibility here. Your own.
(I can just about spell DSP- something to do with d'oh! Sensory Proprioception isn't it?)
We all know that you know your stuff. I begin to suspect Ion is someone out purely to wind you up. In which case he is doing a fair job.
