And even so, the morality and legality of drone strikes on civilians is still irrelevant to the morality and legality of torture. Irrelevant is irrelevant no matter which way you try to make it cut.

Civilized interogation techniques like those spelled out in the Army FMs on the subject produce far more reliable intel, and better intel leads to better targetting and better targetting leads to a drastic reduction in ther number of civilian casualties.

If torturing doesn't work to gather useful info the Republicans are simply endorsing sadism for its own sake. Fine, let's be honest about it. We won't get useful intel, we just like to hurt people because we can.
