Tea Party Smeared by ABC

Do you have a reference to evidence for this claim? Surely someone has asked him. It seemed to me to be just a product of stupidity on Ross' part. This should be grounds for immediate loss of credibility and jobs in the business of news reporting of any kind.

An effort to know something no one else knows...ego. For some reason it reminded me immediately of the Richard Jewell incident, though not really analogous.

A terrible mass murder occurs, and why does a "journalist" decide to troll the Tea Party for the same name but to hope for a connection and engage in a smear??

I wonder if he also trolled the ACLU membership list, Move On, or JREF, etc......?

What "others"? It's a routine thing with the mainstream press to smear the "Right'.
Your response makes no sense whatsoever. You ask what "others" then in the very next sentence assert that it occurs routinely. Huh?

That said, since events such as this one are, according to you, "routine" my question that you did not answer seems even more relevant:

So, Robert, what about this particular incident motivated you to start a thread about it but not all the others?

Thought experiment: someone with the same first and last name as you, who happens to live nearby, goes to a movie theater armed to the teeth and massacres a dozen people. Within an hour a talking head on TV news notes that a known atheist* and registered Democrat** who posts at the JREF forum under the handle "Travis" might be the suspect. Would you shrug it off and not think it was a big deal?
....

Yes, you "got it". Not sure why it's so hard. Go a step further and think of the consequences of mistaken identification. Like..."the John Doe with the Tea Party"...

"Oh, yeah? That guy that lives at 123 ABC Avenue? He's the guy that just killed all those people. The guy with the Tea Party, right."

"Gee, his brother lives right down the street from me. So he was with the Tea Party. Gosh, they think like that? Yeah gee, but I do remember Teatards interrupting town hall meetings, vandalizing representative offices, congressional offices receiving threatening phone calls... "

"Wow, you know, even if it turns out it was another guy by the same name, the Tea Party is a bunch of loons, they deserve the smear."

Some people here are sick.

*Maybe not true, but since you post here you might as well be as far as cable news is concerned.
**Also maybe not true, but based on your previous posts I'll go out on a limb on this one.

Well good point. I take what I said back.

Oh and I guess Jon Stewart has officially become a Liberal Conspiracy Rebel. Because he really went after ABC for their boneheaded third rate reporting tonight.

What makes you think that the "Tea Party" was the ONLY place that Ross looked for the name James Holmes?

Isn't it likely that he also googled "occupiers", "Young Republicans", "NRA", "NAMBLA","PETA", etc...? in conjunction with the shooters name and location?

If so, why would he mention the ones where he didn't get any hits?

You jump to malice, where there is only evidence of sloppiness, not even a great deal of it either- Ross made no claims other than reporting what he had found on a google search.

No. If even you get it, then the point has been made and is well understood by people of different persuasions.

Now to see if ABC takes appropriate action. I bet they do not, the Tea Party smear walkback is not treated the same as if the NAACP took offense at someone in the media's comments. It'll be a tiny two step walkback of about 2 inches.

That's why I'm a fan of the Daily Show. Jon Stewart is biased as hell but he'll take on idiots of all stripes. I have fond memories of his calling out Keith Olbermann on his over the top, shrill hysteria over Scott Brown's election, and Rob Riggle (an ex-Marine) covering the wackos who were trying to shut down the Marine recruitment center in Berkeley.
