Not sure how much Tea Party Nation speaks for the actual Tea Party.

I, an American small business owner, part of the class that produces the vast majority of real, wealth producing jobs in this country, hereby resolve that I will not hire a single person until this war against business and my country is stopped.

I hereby declare that my job creation potential is now ceased.

I recall the thing someone said about the GOP running the car into the ditch so they don't have to chip in for gas. Yes, I know the Tea Party is not the GOP.

Just awful stuff coming from these so called patriots. Lets ruin America because we didn't get what we wanted.

If you know these guys are on the fringe, why are we giving them any more attention? Seriously, this is like that business with Mark Williams and that egregiously offensive "letter to Lincoln" he wrote. After a while, you look at the wreckage that these guys want to create in the name of "liberty," and you realize there's better ways to deal with Obama's errors.

Quite honestly, I'm a little sick of hearing the attribution of malice to Obama. I don't think he's a good president, but I have a hard time believing he's a malicious one. The vast majority of the time, the only malice I see is coming from the Tea Party and their ilk. It leaves me wondering when - or if - they'll ever offer a positive plan to offset what most of us see as errors by the Obama Administration, and help get some job growth going.

If they're "on strike" in participating in job growth in America, I'd say there's no further reason to listen.

Thanks for the heads up, Tea Party. The rest of us will now take our time and apply it to people who are actually trying to do something about unemployment in this nation.

This blogger does not speak for the Tea Party.

Even on the Tea Party nation website you find responses to her blog such as

So you're saying that I as a business owner/manufacturer should turn down work and profits? I should \perpetuate the unemployment of my fellow countrymen who then have to rely on hand outs and contribute to the deficit? Making them and me a defacto leftist?

so basically,

"I do not like who the president is, and I will wreck my busines, and the economy, because of this fact."

Brilliant. I declare I will never spend another dime in a small business that signs onto this. NOT ONE DIME

I'm sorry, but this makes no sense to me. Hurting yourself your employees who need help, and those who need jobs out of spite or anger at the federal government is wrong.

Well, of course. Nobody ever does, especially when they say something stupid or objectionable.
Well this certainly was a stupid boycott which in the first page of posters I found many pointing out that it was stupid.

FWIW, the Tea Party Nation position expressed here isn't so very different from the position held by people in GOP leadership roles who say that their number one priority (meaning ahead of anything else) is unseating Obama. Newt Ginrich, candidate for the GOP nomination and owner of a hefty set of party leadership credentials, said just that in one of the debates recently.

ETA: A quick google on "GOP priority Obama" brought up examples of Mitch McConnell, Michele Bachmann and others saying the same thing. Here's a nice example of a few of them:

At the very least, the Tea Party Nation's pledge not to create jobs until Obama is out is compatible with the priority voiced by "mainstream" GOP leaders.

Tea Party Nation: Stop Hiring Until Obama Is Out Of Office

The Tea Party Nation has released an e-mail requesting all business owners stop hiring new employees until Obama is ousted from office.

They claim it's a way to "punish" Obama.

Yeah, that's how you fix an economy, victimize people looking for a job because you don't like the politics of a portion of the government.

The text of the "pledge" can be found on the Tea Party Nation's website HERE

ETA: Second link to text in case original falls into the memory hole.

Duplicate of this thread

I may see if any of them are local. If so and they aren't places I normally frequent, I will go out of my way to stop by and tell them I won't be giving them any additional business.

After reading that manifesto and call to action, it sounds more like a bunch deaf-to-anyone-but-their-ear-crickets schizophrenics.

Yea but I really really really want PINO to catch on and I want full credit for coining a phrase. :D

I think that most business owners, whatever their political leanings, wouldn't be that irresponsible. You'll hire someone if it's good for your business, and you won't if it won't help your business. You wouldn't be in business for long if you made important decisions based on a personal desire to punish a particular government administrator.

The sort of business owner who's willing to put ideology above his/her own business needs is not likely to be running a successful business in the first place, IMO.
