Tea Party Could Hurt Republicans

Disclaimer: please do not consider the following questions as evidence that I believe that the Republicans have a measurable amount of racism in their party. Feel free to take that issue to another thread.

Why do you see it as less racist? Do you expect racists to give up being involved in politics or do you expect non-racists to be attracted to the party in such numbers that they will dilute the effect of the racists?

The same for business: why? Why would multi-billion dollar industries not try to have a hand in the creation of a new party that would challenge the Democrats? Why would businessmen and businesswomen of all economic levels not want to participate in such a party? Why would the hundred million people who have listened to right-wing politicians, pundits, and commentators for decades suddenly reverse a belief (business is good for America) that serves as part of the very foundation of their political philosophy?

Because I see the GOP ex-Dixicrats not being involved in whatever replaces the GOP. I think there will be a Tea Party that will remain forever a Southern regional party, and that it will hold power in some Southern states. The GOP follow-on party will prosper by appealing to the "Regan Democrats" and to non-hardcore Libertarians, and will have a fighting chance of being the dominant party.

As for business influence, I see this as Market Differentiation; Tea will be business (oil and coal) influenced, the Democrats never turned down a dollar in their lives, and if this new party sold itself as "lower taxes FOR THE PEOPLE" and as "The Party That Cannot Be Bought" and held its candidates toes to the fire to keep that being true, it would be a huge success.

Journal entry -- August 13, 2032:

It's been twenty years since the glorious revolution led the Tea Party to power.

Today was a hard day scavenging for food in the ruins of the old Macy's. Ran into a pack of the Whirlo gang. They are most dangerous with their homemade weapons and penchant for cannibalism. I thought I was dead but they scattered when a helicopter, carrying one of the rich people from one of their isolated fortresses to another, flew overheard.

Today little Benny found the remnants of a school and asked what it was. I explained to him that once upon a time there were places where all the kids were educated in various ways such as being taught to read books. Of course that lead to questions about books and I had to explain about the great book burnings of 2013 when everything except The Bible was immolated in town squares. Somewhat more difficult was the fact that Benny saw pictures on a wall of old Presidents and he asked why no one that looks like Obama is still around.......I'm not quite sure how to explain to him the death camps where all the non-whites and non-Christians met their fate but it may be only a matter of time before we come across one of the many mass graves so I should probably tell him something.

In other matters Margret wants to relocate, perhaps to the ruins of Houston, since food is now so scarce in these parts but I don't like that idea. Between here and there is an area where the rich folk hunt humans for sport. Still in the Houston ruins is a new camp run by a man named Robert. He has risen as a leader after a troubling youth, his dad was a committed Capitalist and thus sold his kids into slavery since he saw them as liabilities. Robert escaped from the slave mills but used the education he got as a kid to try and lead people back.

Lord knows we sure could use some hope.

Hey, that's exactly what Obama did!!!

No he did not. Obama actually laid out detailed plans and policies. The fact that he failed to deliver on some of these doesn't mean he has the same "bumper sticker" style arguments that the Tea Party uses.

I do not understand any part of your reasoning, but in the interest of keeping the thread on track, I withdraw from the discussion.

What kind of party can you have with tea, anyway?

I anxiously await the beer and pot party.

When the GOP implodes, I wonder what sort of party will replace it? Not Tea for certain. I think we will see something more Libertarian, less racist, less beholding to business, more ethical, and conservative of the environment.

I don't see that. But I don't see the GOP actually imploding, rather it will just go a bit nuts for a while, and when everyone realizes this they will moderate and go back to what they have been doing for the past 20 years.

I really don't think anything significant will change.

People are disappointed in the Democrats, and vote the Republicans into Power. Conservatives proclaim the 'end of the Democrats!'

Then people get pissed at the Republicans, and vote the Democrats into Power. Liberals proclaim the 'end of the Republicans'.

Repeat forever.

NAACP to condemn 'racism' of the Tea Parties

This isn't a big surprise. However, I had to laugh at the response of the national spokesman for the Tea Party Express:

"This is indeed the kettle calling the pot black," Mark Williams, national spokesman of the conservative grassroots group, told CNN.

Couldn't you think of a better phrase to use, Mark?

I suspect he carefully chose that exact phrase.

Mark Williams is leading a campaign here in Sacramento to recall the Sacramento City Council because they passed a resolution condemning the Arizona Immigration Bill. Good luck with that.
Williams is a pariah in Sacramento because of his Anti Muslim rants which got him fired from KFBK radio, where Rush Limbaugh got his start and the first "We're Right..All The Time" radio stations. The local GOP wants nothing to do with him. He is a demogogue, pure and simple.

You know any or of any that aren't "offended" 24/7 in any case?
Yes. Almost all of them I know regular folks who only get offended if someone says something insulting. But since most are not in the Tea Party, that doesn't happen 24/7.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...pts-racist-resolution-condemns-bigoted-naacp/

the nearby St. Louis Tea Party had an all-hands-on-deck response to the NAACP's plan. The group has drafted a resolution of its own condemning the civil rights group for reducing itself to a "bigoted" and "partisan attack dog organization."

In a matter of hours, the St. Louis group fired off to the NAACP the statement demanding the organization withdraw its "bigoted, false and inflammatory" resolution. The missive accused the NAACP of resorting to political tactics and urged the IRS to reconsider whether it can continue to qualify for tax-exempt status.

St. Louis Tea Party organizer Bill Hennessy wrote on the group's website Tuesday that the Tea Party stands for smaller government and fiscal responsibility, and accused the NAACP of abandoning black America.

"When you look at the crime and poverty and family breakdown of the African-American community ... you see a half-century of failure by the NAACP," he wrote. "None of those persistent problems was caused by the Tea Party movement, yet the principles of the Tea Party are exactly what's needed to wind down the multi-generational destruction in the African-American community.

Where's that 'eating popcorn' smiley?

You have to be ******** me! He had no plans at all. That's one of the things that bothered me about him. He was all talk. And yes he has failed on most of his promises, yet you still defend him like he is the Quizat Haderach.
