TAM8 side trip - Valley of Fire

I know there have been regular pilgrimages to Red Rock State Park in TAMs past, but I recently dove in to Valley of Fire, Nevada's first state park.

It is made of win! It should probably be afforded federal protection, but anyway...

In the album linked to below, the first few snaps are from Valley of Fire (bandwidth in the desert southwest keeps me from posting more just now).

Oh, and Valley of Fire is where James T. Kirk died in Star Trek: Generations. So there's that. Too bad there are never any Star Trek fans at TAM.

It's about an hour east of Vegas off I-15.

Wow... the Great Flood sure did a spectacular job of carving the rocks all those hundreds of years ago.

I grew up in remote Nevada - Valley of Fire is still my favorite place to head to whenever I go back. I've spent countless hours there. I'm glad you had the chance to visit-it's a beautiful spot. Great pictures, too.
