TAM7 unofficial events schedule

Also, did anyone who did the Atomic Testing Museum last year care to report in? That sure sounded fun to me!!!

Also--semi-seriously--I'm up for a non-drinking/only light drinking event of some kind, in a place that is legal for under-agers. I'm bringing my kid and a teenaged babysitter along, and I don't want to leave them pining in the room every day. Any takers??

Well I will be doing games and we have chosen places that under-agers can join in before and I intend to do so again. All sorts of games welcome and I have many for all ages.

BTW, the Atomic Testing Museum is very cool, worth the trip.

Since I've organized (as much as anyone organizes this bunch) the Guns-and -Nukes side trip the last two years, I think I can feel free to comment.

It's a relatively small museum, lots of information and stuff from the 50's and 60's era and some short films, but for kids it would probably be boring, not much hand-on stuff and lots and lots of reading.

Depends on one's tastes. I rather like it, but I can understand why Horatius and others might not.

Your call.
 
I'd love to go see the musuem, but every year I've been flying back Sunday afternoon and had to miss it.

Well, they say they have a lounge in th bowling alley, and I'm pretty sure I saw kids there when I visited. so it might be worth checking out.

Nancy and I are, as usual, looking forward to another exciting TAM. We've signed up for the TAM, The Great Thomasoni..., Nigerian Spam Scam..., and the Talent Show. The other "unofficial" events look good too. Can't wait to help run up a bill at the Star Trek Experience.

It's pretty neat for either those old enough to remember all the school "Duck and Cover" drills, or those young enough to wonder what in heck your parents were thinking ducking and covering under a school desk.

Couple years ago Dr. Buzzo tried to arrange a tour of the Nevada Test Site which is just up the road from Las Vegas. Nothing ever came of it. I have thought about trying to arrange for that at TAM7 but all the contacts I had out there are long retired. Besides, as neat as the Sedan Crater is for those who like viewing a gigantic hole in the ground, I wonder how neat it would seem in 100 plus degree temps.

Well, that would give a bit of the "You are there!" vibe to the experience!


Having toured the NTS fairly recently, it's interesting, but I'd suggest that anyone interested in a Day Trip after TAM would more likely enjoy Death Valley. NTS is a lot of driving to see sites that most people simply won't believe were once A-bombed.


Except for the aforementioned Sedan crater. You'd totally believe that. But it's a lot of driving for one really big hole.

I doubt I'll actually be able to do all of this, except for the party. I'm up for bowling, and I'm up for Quarks, but it will depend on what else is going on. I think I'll just be doing whatever I can while I'm there.

I'm not gonna bother pasting the whole table.

Put me down as a YES for Quark's.
And, MAYBE for bowling. I'll see if I can brush up my skilz, before I make my final decision.

I'm not going on the Guns n' Nukes. I did that last year. It was awesome, but would be kinda redundant for me. (I am somewhat tempted to try an easier gun than an AK-47. But, not that tempted.)

I can not play Poker. I really can't maintain a Poker face very well.

I WOULD LIKE TO attend the SkepChick party, if I am allowed to. I suppose the first step would be to apologize to Rebecca for... certain things.... And, then I gotta get more projects we wanted completed. But, before I do that, I gotta dredge the swamp everyone seems to be stuck in. We'll have to see how that goes.
