One of the few outlets we have are rare situations like that, where you can be part of a group of essentially anonymous people in the dark... without touching anyone.
Sometimes I do want to be around people, and movies can be a way of doing that if it's at the right time, or going to a pub or restaurant alone, anyplace where you know that no one's going to try to interact with you -- or if they do, it's going to be in very predictable, even scripted ways.
I have friends I've known since childhood who I still see, and one time we went in costume, I was Riff, and behind that costume, you can be things you can't otherwise be.
Hey, dude, I've already used the "nobody's saying I'm hot" schtick, think of something new!
It was pathetic enough that I had to resort to such transparent methods in order to get any attention at all; it is all the more pathetic that you have to resort to copying my transparent methods.
