TAM5 Skepchick PJ Party!

Hey, where is MoeFaux? Anyone heard from her?

I'm very sad; I was looking forward to seeing her again.

I knew there'd be an excuse to wander around in my pajamas. I was going to anyway, for the comfort factor... but now I have a REASON :)

Just don't wear them to the lectures. That would be ... distracting, I think.

I need a Skepchick volunteer.

Long story short, at the Poker Tournament this year, the Riviera is unable to help us out in our usual $10 a person collection for the JRef. Something about gaming regulations.

We need an enthusiastic, persuasive skepchick to attend the poker tournament (as a non-player) to collect the recommended $10 donation to the JRef from each player. They need to be stealthy, as we don't want to interrupt the play of the hands, but also wish to ensure we collect something for the JRef as part of the event.

Your time commitment would be 1730 on Thursday the 18th, for about 30 minutes max.

Volunteers?

Pity I'm not going, 'cause I have a real money-making idea: SkepChicks Gone Wild, a video documentary of the TAM 5 PJ party, available on DVD. Say, $19.95 per copy, proceeds evenly divided between JREF and SkepChick.org. You know how well the calendars do -- just think what a video would pull in $$$-wise. To make sure the released version is acceptable to all parties involved, I would nominate Rebecca to have the final yea/nay say on editing choices.

But, alas, I won't be there, so I can't volunteer my services (and equipment) as the official PJ Party Videographer. Pity, 'cause I got some really nice equipment.

Ack, well, I was all gung ho on this, until I realized it would mean not participating in the tournament itself. I guess it should be left to the non-players.

Please put me in backup position - I would love to do, but am not sure how this all works. The last time I was in vegas and was hanging around the craps table, I asked an innocent question - the guy threw craps (as I asked about) and did not pay me a compliment. I was right (statistically speaking). ;)

I have an idea - :eye-poppi
(1) I could wear a t-shirt with a prompt emblazoned across my guns - then I wouldn't have to say anything, that might get me in trouble.
(2) I could give out pre-printed thank you cards, promising something skeptical and that way know who gave & who didn't (as long as they displayed the card, and then I wouldn't bother those who did, and could bring pressure on those who didn't - I CAN give looks!

What do you think? I would of course, supply the guns.

People are just signing themselves up for security duty as if it's some kind of open hiring season or something. Not a single one of you have officially applied to me for these positions. What nerve!

Okay, you're all hired.

You may a good point. Not one of the applicants have mentioned their price for example. You can't expect to be PJ-party security for free.

(And in case you weren't quite clear on the concept, that means you have to pay to be security, not get paid).
