TAM10 date & place?

This is a good point. I think prior to TAM, the only skeptical conferences that existed were the much smaller ones organized by the Skeptics Society, starting around the mid-90s (?). It's good news for the skeptical movement (even for those who say there is no such thing) that planners and attendees need to think about conflicting dates now.

Coincidentally, I was going through the Skeptical Inquirer DVD that includes the first 29 volumes, and came upon an announcement for CSICOP's "first international conference of scientists and skeptics," held in 1983.

James Randi, Steven Shaw (Banachek) and Michael Edwards did a panel on Project Alpha. They were reunited at TAM9. :)

(Sorry for quoting myself!)

Someone at TAM mentioned it was the first time they had all been on stage together in 28 years. So the math checks out! (2011-1983=28)

The CSICOP conference in the flyer looks much more academic than TAMs. They have panels scheduled for 2.5 hours!

And can I add the World Skeptics Conference to be held from May 18 - 20, 2012 in Berlin, Germany.

We are in the hot planning phase and can now announce the first confirmed speakers.

Ps: sorry still can't post urls, www . worldskeptics . org

TAM9 details weren't announced until October.

So I think patience is called for.

I heard TAM X is going to be sometime next year.

(I also got some inside info on two potential speakers. I'm excited, but my lips are sealed.)

This an old thread, but just wanted to vent.

I usually attend TAM and then Comic Con as they are on concurrent weekends.

I do not know the reason, but it was Comic Con that decided to change their dates this year and move it up a week.

Comic Con dates the last 6 years:
2011: July 21-July 24
2010: July 22-July 25
2009: July 23-July 26
2008: July 24-July 27
2007: July 26-July 29
2006: July 20-July 23

This year?
2012: July 12-15

Jerks.
I wrote them a strongly worded letter.

Comic Con wrote back to me:

Hello,
Those dates were the dates the convention center had available for us.

Attendance: 126,000

ESRI / ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS RESEARCH INSTITUTE 7/21/2012 - 7/26/2012

Sounds like they should have booked earlier.
