Mine had gone up another £75 by the time I booked :( Sticking with BA right through tho as it means they are responsible for sorting out my flights if my connection to London fails. I'm via G/w in one direction H/row the other. Weird.

Considering the cost of the flights the hotel is dirt cheap, so I'm justifying the flight costs by making it a holiday too and staying for the whole discounted period. I intended to splash out on the Skybridge walk over the canyon, but I've just seen a photo and it's not an enclosed tube as I'd thought :(:( There's no way I can walk on it with an open roof. :( Maybe I'll do another helicopter ride over it.

BTW Someone should put Ed Baehr up for the $1m. From the table it looks like he is going to be at the same meeting twice wooooooo.
 
Out of interest, how much are flights now? I got a Virgin flight direct in to Vegas in a 24 hour sale for £540, that was on the condition that the trip started before July 6th. I'm heading out to LA first anyway so it suited me perfect.

I've been looking in to a Canyon trip too, didn't people from here organise a group trip there either last year or the one before? I wonder if there'd be enough interest to do it again.

6th, and I'm staying there until I head to Vegas on or around the Thursday. A friend owns a hotel in Hollywood so I'll probably be staying there, but I have a car to get around if needs be.

Crikey I'm soooooooooo jealous! Mine was nearly double that, £1030 :( But that includes an internal transfer via London. I looked at Virgin as they fly to my local airport now, but the times weren't good as I'd need an £££ overnight stay making them more than BA, but your sale price would have made Virgin a lot cheaper. Zooterkin was looking at prices and I think he decided on Virgin as they were cheaper for him. I was in Vegas around 8-ish years ago and I'm sure the prices were a lot cheaper, even allowing for inflation.

I'd be happy to join in with a helicopter or plane trip over the canyon. Last time my sis and I got a bus to the canyon, then a helicopter down to the river and then did a speedboat trip, it was great. Lunch back on top was nerve wracking tho and I don't think I'd do it without someone I know with me. Heights are no problem as such, the CN tower was great, Empire State fabby, Burj Al Arab amazing, helicopters are great and I've bagged several Munros, but when there's open air between me and a sudden drop I can't handle it :jaw-dropp. Weird, no idea why. I'd love to be able to do the Skywalk so maybe I should see a homeopath for some pills to cure the dread :D

I've gone with Virgin, and the price is only £100 less than yours, but was comparable with other flights from London. The main advantage for me is convenience, I can get a train direct to Gatwick; I also prefer to fly with Virgin rather than BA or American Airlines. The price dropped on the day after the Boston bombings, and I'm still kicking myself I didn't buy my ticket then. The drop was about £350, and only lasted for a day or so.

ETA: The price this year is about £200 more than last year and the year before.

That's roughly when I booked, although it was a few days before on April 13th, also going from Gatwick.
Why do you prefer Virgin? Personally I'd rather go with BA if I could, I found them far more comfortable and had better services.

There's not a lot in it for me, in general, though I think I slightly prefer Virgin. In this case, Virgin fly direct to Las Vegas from Gatwick, while BA go from Heathrow. I can get a train from my local station direct to Gatwick, so that's hugely more convenient than driving to Heathrow. (I see BA do now fly direct from Gatwick, but not every day, so I couldn't fly home with them on the day I want to.)
 
Good point, I used BA to go to New York and that went from Heathrow too. I just prefered their food, the seats were comfier and the movies were on demand rather than on a loop. I am looking forward to some more red socks though.

I think that's the luck of the draw on which plane you get. I got on-demand movies on Virgin before I had it on BA, and I prefer the Virgin food (though again, there's not much in it).

You worried me for a minute there! Glad you added the last bit as I am flying direct from Gatwick on the Monday :) You have now explained why I have to return via Heathrow on a Friday. Not a prob as I can fly home from either airport.

Last time I flew via NY, so this will be my longest flight. BA veggie catering has improved so I'm hoping it will be ok.
 
Damn, blast, and botheration. My company wants me to work in LA Tuesday-Thursday that week, so it looks like I will miss all of the preliminaries, and at least one of the sessions I was greatly interested in. Bah. I still plan to be there Thursday night onward, if nothing else to eat sushi, throw beers at people in the bar, and do a jeans run with zooterkin.
