TAM London News and Info Thread

I know it's a bit early, but I thought I might organise a meal out somewhere on the Friday- I was thinking of somewhere near the city (mainly because I've booked a budget hotel room nearby, and I work in the area)

Anyone up for an east end curry house? Hows about sausage and mash?

The city seems strangely quiet at the moment, cant for the life of me think why..
What's "mash?" I just understand you Brit's lingo. ;)

Count me in.

Just to forewarn you, conference catering plans are likely to include sausage and mash, so you may want to err towards another cuisine. Then again, you can't have *enough* sausage and mash!

Wot no pie and liquor?

Breaking news, not sausage related:

Official TAM London website URL is http://www.tamlondon.org/

At the moment it's just a holding page with a countdown clock, but we've added downloadable countdown clocks for Mac and Windows Vista Sidebar.

Any tech issues with the site or downloads drop me a PM :)

I don't see any speakers listed. Who are the speakers? I bet you don't have any!!!

Shut your face. Anyway, the site is down, I had to move it to a new server and the DNS thingy is doing it's thingy. Should be back up in 5 hours or so, could be up to 24 but unlikely. Will post again when it's back. I've had an interesting night!

I'd also be up for this. Still sorting out my travel plans to get down to London for TAM, but ancillary meet-ups really shouldn't be a problem.

I'm guessing you were joking earlier about that side trip out to Rendlesham? It might be good for a laugh, but it's a bit of a schlep... even if the local pubs do rock. ;-)

Anyone else plotting side events around TAM London? I'll be coming down from Newcastle so I'd love to squeeze as much in during that trip as possible.

Can't wait for real details to start hitting the website, though... that counter is maddening.

You need to go to Cumberland (ignore anything called a "Cumberland sausage" in London, it's highly unlikely to be the real thing).

That would be difficult, unless you can return to 1974 or earlier. In that year Cumberland was combined with Westmoreland to form the new county of Cumbria as far as I recall. :) And Cumbrian sausage does not have the same ring to it?

Speaking as a Cumbrian, you would be right.

Cumberland sausage really has no set recipe, the cumberland sausages ive tasted up here range from the fairly bland normal pork sausage to the really peppery/spicy. Every local butcher has his own 'secret' recipe of herbs and spices.

Also, you dont eat cumberland sausages with mash, the best thing to eat them with is more cumberland sausages :)
