TAM Forum Party Net-A-Thon

Okay, total Paypal donations I've received thus far: $590 from 20 different people. Thanks, all!

Could you cross-check it with those in this thread who have said they'd contribute by other means than Paypal?

I'm in for some bucks, but the party has to last past 10pm... no getting kicked out!

I'll be at Penn and Teller...so please keep going until late at night.

I'm sure it will last. All of us cool people will be at Penn and Teller anyway, so I'm sure the party will be a dud until we arrive ;)

I've looked at their website... the Penn & Teller ticket costs $93.50, is that right?

OOH, I'd like to go, OTOH, it's a lot of money for a show that I've watched 3 years ago.

Well, I'll enjoy the Forum party longer than you guys, and by the time the P&T folks have arrived, we'll have generated all the in-jokes to plague the forum for years to come. And the late-comers will never really fit in, you know, they'll just keep looking from a certain distance, as if an invisible shield kept them apart. One wonders if they will ever mingle. Maybe much later, as the crowd starts to disperse. Only then they will be able to break into the wonderful intimacy built during the hours prior to their arrival to the party.

I'm pretty sure that's what will happen.

Just paypaled $25.

There is a good sized liquor store (Lee's Liquor) 1.2 miles from the Hotel down Flamingo Road. It's a bit far to carry a bunch of liquid in the Vegas heat. Would someone with a car be willing to do a pre-party beverage run? I promise to buy a little something extra for the driver.

If it's the same place I'm thinking of then they have a great single malt selection so a ride shouldn't be a problem as I'll be going there anyway.

there were cheaper tickets through JREF...but there was a limited number.

and cool people are always "fashionably late."

glenn:)

Up to $660 from 23 people, plus $150 in pledges from people in this thread who I believe have yet to send PayPal (it's tough to tell because I don't know everyone's forum name).

As a reminder, like at TAM6, I'll spend all the money on the suite first, then snacks & drinks (at least $150, more if we happen to raise more), and then anything leftover will be split evenly between JREF and Skepchick. It looks like it'll be easier to hit this one on the nose, with the pre-party fundraising (last year we got all the donations via the bucket at the door, which was tougher to gauge).

Thanks to everyone who has chipped in thus far!

Oh, and those of you going to see P&T need not worry. The party will most definitely proceed past 10pm, and it's actually good that we have a group coming later. The 5.5 party was completely flooded from the moment the doors opened, so this will even out the numbers a bit.

I'll probably be making a beer run too at some point. I'll have an SUV rental.

We should organize some sort of Official Booze Run List.

I'll be drivin' the Comical RaideyMobile in from Los Angeles so that wouldn't be a prob. Even though - get this - I'll have either little or no drinkolas! But I ain't no party pooper.

how much do we need for the payoff to the security guards to let us be mildly loud without their kicking us out?

I talked with my Mafia connections in Vegas and they suggest a coupla Franklins each oughtta button up their traps and let their guard down fer us. They hadda sitdown with the two gentlemen and the one requested an extensive security frisk of 5 women partygoers. The other wants to frisk 5 dude partygoers. So, we'll need cashola, and volunteers. I'll be out getting the liquor and am not available, sorry.

more $ for the party

Okay, I just sent over $40 for the party; $20 each for me and the wife. :)
