TAM Australia

Quest World Square is telling me $159 per night... with government discount.

I smell gouging going on.

I think there might be a bit of confusion between Ibis World Square and Quest World Square.

It's $119 per night for a non-refundable room with a queensize bed on booking.com that time of the year at Hotel Ibis World Square.

Quest World Square is the expensive one. $191 per night.

Quest World Square is also farther from the Masonic Centre than Ibis.

Are you sure you are putting in the correct dates? I get wildly different rates.

I am looking at the cost for the dates I'll be in Sydney: the 25th of November, 2010, until the 29th. $447 all up.

I do see it say $149 as the cheapest for the Friday night and Saturday night. $119 as the cheapest on either side of those two days.

The mystery is solved! :)

Same here. I suggest you book now.
I booked about a week ago. And the plane tickets at the same time.

Jetstar had return flights for $131 total (including both ways, taxes and the credit card fee) for Melbourne to Sydney. I'm not sure if they've still got that. I think they had cheaper ones than that but they were earlier in the morning than what was convenient.

I have the luxury of getting a cabin for about $5 a night, though I normally prefer a hotel. I'm thinking Kuttabul is looking real good (though I don't get parking).

If I could get that deal I would take it. And with Cafe de Wheels nearby.....

I don't like the pie floaters. I used to have his hot dogs but since they moved it's just not the same.

Not much I can do about hotels and plane tickets right now. TAM starts on the last day of our exam period, so I may not even be able to make it on the first day if I'm unlucky enough to have an exam. (somebody will die if that's the case)

I'm certainly thankful for the student billeting option, though I'm sure it will be very limited. I'm not a huge fan of hotels, I prefer a backpackers accommodation sort of thing. Might have a look to see what's close to the masonic centre after I'm done with this round of exams.

There's a fair bit of unhappiness around the whole event, from what I've been reading on the Intertubes. Shame.
