She did most of the legwork of sorting out our options and calling me repeatedly this weekend to secure the place while I was biking around town stocking up on non-TAM-related cupcake supplies.

Update: there is no balcony. I just spoke with a nice lady at Caesar's, who informed me that very few hotels on the strip now allow for doors opening onto a balcony, thanks to drunken idiots/klutzes taking spills (or maybe gamblers who aren't doing so well at the tables?).

That's what I figured and why I raised the safety issue.

We can request a smoking suite on check-in, and the windows open so you can probably stick your head out. That said, depending on space and smell issues, smokers might be encouraged to head downstairs. I'll make the call once we're there.

I say, as a smoker, if we have easy access to a designated area or to the outside, get a non-smoking room. I won't have any issue with going downstairs.
