TAM 2012 Las Vegas

That was actually announced last year. I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned until now.

Really? I don't remember that. The one I do remember was that the Dawkins Foundation would be paying for child care services.

Glad to see both announcements.

Wait....something fishy is going on here. :)

Did you make an edit? Or am I imagining things? I would have swore your quote was about the child care.

wish I was there

As it seems by now, unless things change, I will not be able to attend this year. Sounds like a great time is to be. Maybe next year...

I'm sitting in bed recovering from surgery so I can't get the exact number, but I think we have awarded about 25 forum grants.

This will be my first time to have a rental car in Vegas. I see that South Point has a free valet and it seems that might be more secure than parking in the deck. But how does tipping work for valets? Do you tip when you drop it off, when you pick it up, or both? And what is a reasonable amount?

Tip only when you get the car back, and it's $1 or $2 each time (maybe $2 since it's free?). But I'm not sure that valet parking would be any more secure, actually. Why would it be? I think maybe it's just more convenient, if you don't want to go out walking in the heat and prefer waiting in the A/C.

The South Point parking structure seemed decent to me. I'd avoid leaving a car out in the sun, of course, but I was always comfortable leaving my car in the structure.

I left my rental car in the parking structure last year with no problem. There are likely cameras for security.

There is really no need to do this. Don't leave anything of value in the car -- or at least not in sight inside the car -- and it will be fine.

Hearing from TAMmers who are already in Vegas that expected attendance is 1200+.

I'm in CVG airport on my way there...

I was at TAMs 8 & 9, not going to this one, but all afternoon I kept thinking things like "I could run home, pack a bag, and be at South Point by 7 o'clock . . ."

<sigh> have fun, everyone. Hopefully I'll make it next year.
