Taking pictures at TAM

I just meant there will be some teenagers at TAM, girls, and if anyone remembers what Kitten2 wore! (she was voted "worst dressed")

Just some parents might not want their 14 year old posted on the internet

Ok, understood. I´ll try to avoid pictures with minors in them... if not I will photoshop accordingly.

Thanks!

With all these limitations, you're going to end up with some fascinating pictures of the Riviera's carpeting.

I´m afraid so. :(

I hope there´s lots of drunkards at TAM, all struggling to get on their feet. :D

Well, I´ll just have to be extra careful, just to be respectful. But if someone gets upset with me, I´ll have to take out the "race card"... "You don´t want me taking pictures because I´m Mexican", haha.

Takes one to know one!

So, we are both tossers. :)

Teek's visage can turn an otherwise innocent individual into a tosser. Ogle at your own risk.

And, as Borat might say, "CFLarsen... not so much.":(

And, as I might say, "Phyz... not at all.":D

I have no problems with that...

We've been through this, re those who wanted to keep their privacy. When at TAM, you have to expect your photo to be taken, and you have to expect your photo to end up on the Internet.

We simply can't ask everybody we take photos of. It simply isn't feasable.

I don't mind you taking photos! I just don't want them posted all over the world (but it will happen anyway, and people will be glad that JREF is so accepting of people with leprosy. Those Xians hate them, but the skeptics let them come out in public....it's icky looking let's just say!)

I'm sure we can't tell the difference.

(waiting for the bomb to drop)

Can you just imagine what some people will insist they can see in those photos?!

I got mesmerized by the Stardust carpeting last year. If the Riviera carpeting is any worse, I'm gonna end up wandering into folks and odd rooms all week.

I apologize in advance for your shins and toes. And for the awkward looking pictures you may take of me that will require you to make lengthly explainations when others see them (And also because no one has started pre-apologizing for TAM behavior yet this year....I'm first!)

Um, yeah it is. It's called courtesy. I make a point of telling people that I don't want photos taken of me, and just about everyone is fine with that.

Jas, Claus, I think you're talking about different things. It's not feasible to ask everyone in the background of a photograph. It is feasible to ask everyone in the foreground.

There are a lot of people taking a lot of pictures at TAM. It's a big part of what helps build the community. It's what we should expect, and even welcome.

When you raise your camera and point it at people, it clearly shows your intentions. I would say that a better solution would be for those few who don't want their picture taken to actively speak up when they see someone pointing a camera in their direction. Or have a sticker that says "Don't take my photo!" Or wear a burqa... ;)

"Worst dressed"? By Whom? I don't recall a bare midriff, nose rings, peek-a-boo bras, micro minis, ragged or dirty clothing. I DO recall an appropriately dressed (and polite) teenager. And my photos don't lie.

That said, while I plan to again take lots of photos, I'm not working for the scandal sheets. It's no difficult thing to EDIT the photos you take and simply not print or distribute any that might be inappropriate.

The point of the photos (in general) is to show the event as a fun, social, spirited affair. No one's looking to get innappropriate pics of underaged girls and post phone numbers!

I guess I see a lot of paranoia on this issue. Driven mostly by other paranoia. And I live in the most paranoid community in the US: Sacramento, where 68% of phone numbers are unlisted. I just haven't caught the fever yet. I'm a public school teacher whose name and number are in the phone book.

Anyway, our school district prohibits the posting of any student if that student is the only person in the photograph. Well, they have that rule for their own websites. Being the rebel that I am, I play by my own rules. Examples can be seen here:
http://phyz.smugmug.com/School

To date, no one has been stalked, murdered, etc. on the basis of these pics. I do secure permission form the students/parents to post pics of them, and I promise to remove pics upon request of a subject.

Like I said: no harm, no foul. And no fowl, for that matter.
