What is a "sim" by the way?
A simulation. I think it's one of these Star Trek Armada games or something, you play online and... well I dunno, I spose it's like Dungeons and Dragons or something.
I can find a few pages dedicated to the finding of 47s in Star Trek, but none make much reference to the original series. As for me proving that they don't show up a lot in the original series, go and look up a thing called "burden of proof".

It all seems to stem from a few people noticing a few 47s back in the 60s (not 1947). Why 47? Why not? If things had been a bit different TNG would be littered with 39s and you'd still be here crowing about it.
I used to see the number 22:07 on clocks all the time. (2+2=4, 0+7=7, 47!)
