How many predictions did Browne make and how many did she get right? What percentage was correct?


(I removed the promotions, audience readings, chatter, praise and introductions, leaving only predictions for 2003.)

Browne: Yes. And, you know, we've talked about this before, privately and publicly and everything, that, you know, I don't like to be a doomsday, you know, but I'm just--I--never before in 66 years of my life--and I lived through world war--you know, I won't tell you how many wars--the Civil--Civil War and, you know--no, World War II, but I've never been in Korean, you know, in Vietname--Vietnam War--never been as concerned as I have about this one because there's going to be such a retaliation...

WILLIAMS: And you...

Browne: ...on our banks, on our shores.

WILLIAMS: Will that retaliation come in the form of something that we've seen already, like September 11th, where they go after...

Browne: It's going to come in nerve gas, Montel.

WILLIAMS: Big?

Browne: Big. Big. And it's going to hit coastal areas. It's going to be episodic in the fact that you're going to have people that are--they don't care. You see, we're--we--it's almost like suicide missions. I mean, you know, like--let's say I strap a bomb on--God forbid--and I walk into a place and I don't care. I just blow everything up.

WILLIAMS: Everyone wants to know this--oh, let's--let's--let's just stay on this for a second, OK? So terrorist an--attacks--will we overcome? Will...

Browne: Oh, sure, we will.

WILLIAMS: ...will we be able to control them?

Browne: It's very much like--you know how we see things that happen in Palestine and places? And, you know, I talk to people on the phone all the time and, you know, I talk to the--to Judaic Palestinians, whatever, and they're not where the war is, do you see what I mean? It's very much like north and south Ireland. You know, there's certain--most of us won't be affected, except for the fact that we feel so bad about people being blown up and horrible things. What I'm more concerned about is railroads now. I'm not concerned about planes. I'm worried about railroads and trucking lines.

WILLIAMS: Here in the United States.

Browne: That's what I'm worried about. Yeah, because, see, that will cripple us, Montel.

WILLIAMS: Yeah.

Well, I suppose she was right about David and Liza. Everything else is postively a joke. On every level.
 
Yeah, I've started an aticle on this, mostly from the lex-nex stranscript.

Pretty sad.

But who could ever have predicted about David and Liza! I for one was certain they would go the distance.

Ms. BROWNE: Oh, I'd beat him up.

WILLIAMS: I don't know if I'd admit that to anybody, you know what I mean?

Ms. BROWNE: I'd beat him up if I was married to him.

WILLIAMS: Wait. But Liza had two hip repla--replacements. You mean he can't run from her? Yeah!

That's impressive about David and Liza. I mean, that marriage seemed as solid as a rock!

In a nutshell

Sylvia : Blalalalah loads of people will die blalalalalah in terrorist attacks...
Montel : Yeah but what about celebrities ???

Pathetic.

Just a thought. This comment caught my eye from Montel :

"WILLIAMS: Absolutely. Let's get on to something better. How about--let's talk about the lives of celebrities. You do pretty well with that."

In other words, "Sylvia your rubbish at predicting anything meaningful so how about some stuff you couldnt possibly get wrong ?"

A clue as to Montel's real feelings about Sylvia's 'powers'?
 
I'm finding these transcribes of the show disturbing because of the constant use of "You know". It's like some sort of hypnotic suggestion whereby you make every statement vague and easily interpretated by the listener. You know, I think, you know, I think shes lying.

Sorry, you guys have probably discussed this a million times. I'm just making my Newbie observations to let you know where I am coming from. I really think this woman should be stopped, and not for her lying, but for her arrogance when doing so. You know?

She has a failure rate higher than I thought was possible. Doesn't that count for something?
 
Regarding the admin edit, that transcript is not the full transcript.

1) As stated clearly, "I removed the promotions, audience readings, chatter, praise and introductions, leaving only predictions for 2003."

2) The word count of the total (8512 words) is much larger than what I posted.

3) Chunks of material, which was more than half, was removed and made clear with:

I think I know where this is going.

Sylvia's flock will start saying that she saved us all from World War 3 by coming out with this prediction. See, Homeland Security listens to Sylvia, and when they heard this, they took action to prevent it.

I would like to declare myself the world's greatest psychic. My spirit guide, Larry, has told me that terrorists will attack tomorrow morning and wipe out all of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Winnamucca, NV, leaving no building standing or person alive.

Boy, I wish I could see some of the stuff you could see, like what's going to happen next year, because, you know, what--wait a second. Do you guys know that she has a new book out? It's called "If You Could See What I See," but if you saw what she saw last year on this show, you would know that Sylvia Browne--do you know some of the predictions that you made last year were so real, so right, over the top? Before you share this year's, I want you to take a look at some of the ones that you said last year.

WILLIAMS: And yeah, you know, some of them, unfortunately, did come true.

There is going to be--not just from this year, but next year, there's going to be, there's going to be an also a flu vaccination problem. And it's going to be almost like a black market type of thing that they're going to do.

WILLIAMS: He's going to get married?

Ms. BROWNE: Oh, yeah, he's going to get married to that foreign girl that's beautiful.

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston are going to break up, which is kind of sad. Yeah.

WILLIAMS: Oh, look at all the cross looks! And wait--and all these women are going, `Oh, I feel so bad for Jennifer. Brad!' Is that totally right?

Ms. BROWNE: Demi Moore's going to get pregnant with--you know.

WILLIAMS: Really? There all kinds of things happening in Hollywood!

WILLIAMS: See, I'm going to tell you, the Jennifer Aniston/Brad Pitt thing took everybody by surprise. Sylvia was the only one who said that. Demi Moore getting pregnant!

Ms. BROWNE: Robert Blake was the one.

WILLIAMS: Robert Blake, that's right. Nobody saw it coming.

Ms. BROWNE: He called me on the phone, and said, `I didn't believe that that could be possible.'

WILLIAMS: Now, the one that really got me, too--she was the one who said that Britney Spears was going to get--have--have a baby, and had a baby this year. But you also predicted that Britney was going to dump her husband. And guess what, you know, according to Us Weekly, December 12th edition, Britney has canceled Kevin's credit card, kicked his butt out the house, and she spent her birthday alone! Dang! Don't be in a relationship and ask Sylvia what's up!

Well, guess what, we do have a Question of the Week.
