I've heard several German "conspiracy theorists" complain lately that the "Flat Earth theory" is being pushed in the scene by entities they don't name and I don't know. I even saw a video a week or two ago of a widely-known "CT" veteran, who believes in ~9 out of 10 popular CTs including the Moon Landing Hoax, debunking Flat Earth with rather childlike basic observations after a vacation of his in Australia.

I've seen a few "serious" Apollo hoax CTs lament the spread of flat-earth views through their neck of the woods. It's a bit like watching mainstream Christians discussing the ridiculousness of crystal healing.

It's true that NASA currently has a problem with the Van Allen Belt. One benefit of 1960's analog technology is that it wasn't affected by the radiation - unlike the modern digital technology of today would be.

Not a problem. When going to Mars you are moving away from the Sun and thus radiation isn't an issue. Its the return trip traveling up-Sun that is the real problem since now the radiation is twice as strong.
