Might be fixed by the time you read this - but I wouldn't be surprised if not - scroll down about 1/4 of the way to the sinking ship in the middle. Note the headline. Apparently even spell check is too much trouble for these guys. Well hey, "cruise" is a tough word to spell after all

I've seen far worse. It's not for nothing that one of the UK's newspapers is nicknamed The Grauniad. But typos are really not as big an issue as lazy and inaccurate reporting.

So much hyperbole and outrage over typos. Seriously, find something better to get upset about because this is extremely petty, possibly the most petty.

I once e-commented (in private) to a reporter that his story had four major grammatical/spelling errors in it. I ended by saying I understand a typo now and then, but a journalist should know how to write. I also said I figured the copy was entered by web writer, but since he had his name on the story he might like to know about it.
His response: "I don't like your attitude."

According to The Book of Heroic Failures one of its most famous misprints was a review of an opera called Doris Gudenov. I certainly remember a weather forecast that included "sunny pernods".

That's nothing to the BBC news ticker, which regularly transcends mundane grammar and spelling errors with announcements such as, "The Queen has tested positive for morphine...", "Welcome to the Year of Whores" and reference to the world famous "Large Hardon Collider"

Are you sure you weren't watching a rerun of The Day Today?
