As the one who nominated HeyLeroy, I considered the nomination question carefully. I agree that the math error was minor. IMHO, two things put it over the threshold for nominability. One, a bit of thought about the everyday physical implications of the result (e.g. sound travelling way over a mile in way less than a second) would have made the mistake immediately apparent (unless HL lives in a place with no thunderstorms, or with so many of them that hearing the thunder within a second of seeing nearby lightning is a common occurrence). Two, and more important, the mistake was made in the context of HL nominating someone else for having gotten it wrong.
However, though I'm not surprised it made the poll, I'm pretty sure it would have been passed over as uninteresting -- it would have failed to measure up to Stundie finalist standards -- if a truther had made the same mistake. (Unless perhaps the truther built up an entire elaborate case around it, comparable to the 110-second collapse time calculation.)
Thus my only justification for voting for it would be as some sort of empty symbolic gesture, born of insecurity and fear of accusations of hypocrisy, compelling me to "stand behind" my nomination.
Which is good enough for me! Make that five votes, HeyLeroy!
Respectfully,
Myriad
