Strange Light in Cologne- Germany

So lots of people saw strange lights? All it proves is that lots of people saw strange lights.

Strange lights =/= Aliens.

This is the fundamental flaw in thinking among UFO nuts. Somebody saw something in the sky that they didn't understand. Nobody can explain it (usually because there's just not enough information available to explain it). Therefore: Aliens. Most of these people have an overwhelming need to believe in extraterrestrial visitation, so their default explanation for anything without any other obvious explanation is aliens.

While I don't think it's completely outside the realm of the possible that intelligent extraterrestrial beings could visit the earth, absent strong evidence that this has actually happened it's going to be near the bottom of my list of possible explanations for anything seen in the sky. I'm perfectly happy with, "Well, I'm not really sure exactly what that strange light in the sky was".

Did you conveniently drop your objective on the ground before taking the shot?

Try this at home:

Cross your eyes when looking at the picture. It becomes clearer. Weird.

OMG!

Sometimes when you think somebody might be taking the piss it turns out that that, is exactly what was happening.

because my eyes have not seen a balloon! This is a fact.
the police can tell a lot.
I simply accept that there is probably no answer. just mysterious phenomena

Why do you think the balloon should have been observable?

Is this a joke?! Because even in that super-blurry picture, that STILL looks a whole heck of a lot like a blimp!

Why is it that only people incapable of focusing a camera see UFOs, ghosts, Bigfoot and Nessie?

Wow a digital photo with no EXIF data.

But still, it couldn't possibly be this could it:

There you go, what you needed was a true blimpologist.

It's a depressing thought that there may never have been and may never be any visitors to Earth from outer space. As it is highly unlikely, statistically, either that life only exists on Earth or that life on Earth is the most advanced in the Universe, it seems to follow that it is probably very difficult for sentient life to travel through space and get anywhere meaningful, e.g. to another habitable planet.

Maybe we are in a region of space in which there is a very low density of habitable planets (I mean habitable by higher life forms like us, I don't mean bacteria or spores etc). Perhaps there are other regions where habitable planets abound in reasonably close proximity to each other such as to have given rise to highly advanced interplanetary civilisations and wars etc. And perhaps we shall never know, due simply to the sheer vastness of the space that separates us from any planet capable of sustaining higher life forms.

To the opening poster, the arrival here of sentient life would be such a remarkable event that it would require correspondingly clear and remarkable evidence to justify our accepting that it had occurred and your 4 second film does not appear to contain such evidence.

And what you need is a decent blur filter in your software. How do you ever expect to convince anyone that you've seen an alien craft with crispy-clear pictures like that? :boggled:

We see a lot of blimps in the air in Central Florida.

I have little doubt that they have generated some UFO reports even here where odd things in the sky aren't that unusual.

They can look very much like a flying saucer, especially when viewed from a distance. Some are illuminated from the inside at night which really makes them look odd. My wife and I drove towards one for about an hour one night, all the way joking about the alien craft we kept watching.

Many years earlier, I saw a strange, flickering light moving back and forth near the horizon at night. Later I learned, through news reports, that it was an advertising plane with lights under the wing that displayed a scrolling message. The plane was flying in circles around some event location (probably a football stadium) and, from a distance, looked odd enough that several people called in UFO reports to the media.
