Strange Light in Cologne- Germany

I am a typical normal man.
Yeah sure, that's what you say you are.

This act you are putting on - trying to convince us that you are just another credulous UFO nut - might fool the others, but not me! I know that you are really an extraterrestrial alien, sent here to spy on us and make sure we don't develop advanced technologies that might challenge your claim to the galaxy.

It's a clever ploy. Create a straw man parody of your activities - with stories of strange lights in the sky, spaceships piloted by little green men, 'paranormal' crop circles, alien abductions and anal probes, cattle mutilations, ancient astronauts and other nonsense - then let us skeptics knock it down. Anyone with half a brain can figure out that these outlandish claims are bunk, but that blinds us to the truth of what's really Out There.

On the off-chance that your stealth technology fails and somebody sees an actual alien spacecraft, we will then assume that it's just another misidentification/hoax etc. All the while you are brazenly hiding in plain view, pretending to be one of us blowing the whistle on them. Of course you are careful to appear credulous, so that we will be more inclined to reject your 'evidence'. :(

But perhaps a bit too credulous. That an otherwise intelligent person would be sucked in by such hogwash is a bit hard to swallow, don't you think? Skeptics may be fooled into thinking that you believe it because they consider themselves intellectually superior, but it's more likely that you are simply lying. The only question is, why the subterfuge? The answer is obvious - to keep us from guessing The Truth. ;)

Oh yes, I'm onto your little scheme. You and your cohorts Erich Von Daniken, David Icke, Whitley Strieber, Rramjet and all those other infamous 'ufologists'. It's so obvious that you are all lying, yet most of us haven't figured out the reason for your campaign of misdirection - which is to discredit the entire field of ufology so that any real evidence will then be ignored. :boggled:

The object was following the flightpath of aircraft, but no signs of flashing landing lights as per the previous plane images. It was flying at one point above cloud level but below the trails of high level planes, you could tell that from the video.

It would be a simple matter to rule out or in the possibility of it being a balloon or a hot air lantern by checking on the wind direction at the time of the video. The minimum height of the object could be estimated by the height of the low level cloud that night.

Its speed compared to the rooftops below and other reference points which are visible on the video seems steady, unless I missed something, and similar to that of the known aircraft.

The diameter of the light is quite impressive, again compared to its height above the clouds compared to that of the lights from a plane, and if this was a festive hot air lantern at that height, it would surely have been a pinpoint of light and far less bright.

It could have been an airship/blimp, lit internally, which I know some are, and could cause that area of brightness perhaps, at that height.

because my eyes have not seen a balloon! This is a fact.
the police can tell a lot.
I simply accept that there is probably no answer. just mysterious phenomena

If you saw an unidentified flying object, how do you know it wasn't some sort of balloon?
The whole point of it being unidentified kind of lets us know you didn't know what it was.

Not at all. The only people who are happy to maintain a mystery are those who don't actually want to find out they could be wrong.

You're wrong, "alien" just means that they're from another world, not that they're here. It's the same for the more local definition of "from another country". The term is more commonly used if the alien is in a country foreign to them, but it's not wrong to use it otherwise.

So, for example, I'm British and am currently residing in Britain, therefore it is entirely correct for me to describe Barack Obama as an alien, despite the fact that he is from the US and currently resides in the US.

This may be technically true, but from a common usage standpoint I stand by my definition. I think few if any people nowadays (other than perhaps the extremely xenophobic) would refer to the billion-plus citizens quietly residing in China as "aliens" unless and until they travel to another country and reside there for a period. It's like arguing the definition of "UFO." Technically it's just a flying whatnot that hasn't been positively identified yet, and as such can be any old mundane thing. But when someone stands up and pronounces "I believe in UFO's!" I'm pretty sure most people would assume she's talking specifically about extraterrestial spacecraft.

I'm not really sure that there's a huge amount of evidence to support the idea that anybody who uses the word "alien" other than in the way you've defined it is "extremely xenophobic".

how do you know?
the universe is infinitely.
it is foolish to believe there was only us.

@MG1962
calm down .

How did they find us? We have only been sending signals into space since the 1930's.

The police said it was. They've presumably looked into the matter, and identified where it was launched and by whom.

Sky lanterns are launched as part of festivals, and by individuals celebrating a significant event (my nephew launched one at his wedding reception). It's a perfectly reasonable explanation of the light. Why are you doubting it?

Because he knows it's a street light.

I know you do not believe me ...
but today... six army helicopter flew over our town today. over a 3000 people population town.never seen anything like that.
I was unfortunately not fast enough to get my camera. ****!!!! too slow to react.

Photographs of helicopters are only proof of the existence of helicopters.
The existence of helicopters is not something that is in dispute.

You say you're in Cologne. That's Cologne, Germany, right? That's got a population of over a million. You're saying it's got 0.3% the population it's really got. Either you're not in Cologne, you haven't got the first clue about numbers, or you're massively exaggerating for effect.

I know which one my money's on.

Tomorrow I have the proof.and you see:

A photograph of helicopters will not be proof of anything.

I believe you ALIENS because there doesn't seem to be anything odd about helicopters flying over towns. However, linking that to alien visitation is a bit strange.

Even secret "unmarked" ones.
