CD I'm afraid I must disagree with you. Homo Sapians are driven by the most base of instincts. The concepts of good and evil and our definition of ethical behavior are plastic , being defined by the abstract sentiments of the moment. I realize that I sound like a nihilist, but the case study of humanity is fairly rich with examples of both self- inflicted and imposed examples of behaviors that we ( in general) upon reflection view as barbaric..
 
I tend to agree with TillEulenspiegel. If we look at Christianity as a model, it wasn't until fairly recently that they stopped burning people alive and we still see the occasional homosexual getting murdered.
