StopSylviaBrowne: Montel: Christopher Reeve Prediction

Yes. Or at least, she very strongly implied it. No specific dates or anything, and she won't be around to eat crow if it doesn't happen.

Unless you have some of the old trance tapes of sessions with her spirit guide from 15-20 years ago, when she predicted the end of the world (or at least the big quake in California, beachfront property in Colorado, etc.) in 1998. Then 2004. Now it's 100 conveniently unprovable years from now, and too far out to bother most of her fans.

Wasn't the "Great Cataclysm" reset by 9/11 happening? How convenient for SB that the country was attacked else she'd have had some 'splainin' to do...or not, she'd have just made up something else that would have "reset" the planet's "chart".

Interesting. I'd never heard Sylvia Browne say that - are you sure it was her? Guess that would be one way to cover the multitude of failed millenium predictions, but I hadn't heard her say that. I had the impression she just assumed no one important would remember the failed predictions and she could get away with pretending they'd never happened.

It was the woman herself who said arthrofibrosis, though, not SB, and that is actually a correct medical term.

That's my point. She was told the name of the condition, and so she could have worked out that the joint may have been seized from the name, which wouldn't be affected by 'electrodes'.

1. Browne doesn't care about the woman's malady.

2. Sylvia Browne did not know until recently about the electoral college. She thought the president was elected by popular vote until she reached her 70's. If she didn't know something that basic, it shows just how uneducated she is. How could she have been able to reason from the name of a condition what was wrong with the woman?

3. Sylvia really showed her stupidity when she asked the woman if she'd had therapy!

(Quite honestly, I know about the electoral college, and probably a good many other things Browne seems not to know, but I still would not have been able to reason from the name of a condition what was wrong with a person until I did some research. Just yesterday, my friend told me her son is going to a vascular thoracic surgeon. I had to look it up on the net to figure out what that was all about.)

Yep, all of her followers on GSB were spouting it...the information was passed on in a salon not too long ago.

FYI people, Anita is one of Sylvia's ministers and receives updates faster than we do, so when she adds valuable info to the forum that we don't quite understand, please be patient as she is a great source of info and very busy. When we were at the Salon I asked Francine about the cataclysm and the was it was explained to me is as follows: part of the reason it is going to happen is so we will pull together and help each other, when 9/11 happened we did that, so the lesson was learned. That is why the date has changed. Please get JOS book 6 as there is a map of the effected areas.
- from the GSB forum (Anita is a Novus Spiritus minister, and the poster is a devoted follower or stirred up all that trouble on the forum a while back.)

There are several threads on that site about cataclysmic type things, and if someone mentions that the raggedy-copy of the JOS books says that the world will end in 2004, they are quick to jump and say but Sylvia said 9/11 reset everything so now we have to wait.

Yikes, that's bad.

There are a couple of major things wrong with this (aside from the fact that it is all nonsense):

1. The "Great Cataclysm" was supposed to have happened by the year 200 at the latest.

2. According to Browne's "theology," every single one of the people who died in the attacks of 9/11 had "charted" themselves to do so before they were born, which would mean at least sixty or seventy years ago - let's say the 1940's. You would think that God would have been informed of this, and would have known that the Great Cataclysm would not be happening before the year 2000.

It is also interesting to note that, even though Francine warned everyone to move away from California before the year 2000, Sylvia Browne Headquarters - which was supposed to have moved to (I believe it was) the Sedona area by then, never left Campbell, California.

I agree - holes you could, well, shove SB through.

I'm shocked she hasn't somehow retrofitted 9/11 to be The Great Cataclysm.

I'll certain that if there was a terrorist attack upon any city in California that day, instead of upon New York City and Washington D.C, she'd have done exactly that.

I agree with everything you've said but I actually think that, as uneducated as she certainly is, she did know of the electoral college. And used that line as an out to explain why she predicted that Al Gore would win the presidency in 2000. On CNN on the night before the election, no less.

Somehow I knew she'd have used the controversy over the 2000 election to have it both ways, no matter who won. :( I'm surprised she didn't say something along the lines of "No, I wasn't wrong- Al Gore did win! And if all the votes in Florida were counted properly, had the Supreme Court allowed them to, he would have gotten the most votes".

Then, I don't think she's educated enough :p.

Edit: And very psychic you are if you don't know what the electoral college is!

Instead of wiggling out of scrutiny with a plausible enough explanation, she just digs her holes deeper to anyone who examines her claims.

Oh brother.

:D 9/11 isn't mentioned as having reset the cataclysm until just now, even though it would have had to have been charted for years by the 1980s - good point!

I'm really disgusted to realize that I must have for years been more like these current followers than different, who just don't think. Worse, I considered myself to be at least somewhat intelligent and discerning, and I had absolutely no idea people would deliberately set out to deceive other people in the guise of spirituality, so I was gullible too.

The church was going to relocate to an area just outside of Santa Fe at one point; it's possible Sedona was mentioned, too, though I don't remember it.

Speaking of Sylvia's intellect, I took a 5-week class from her on Developing Psychic Ability many years ago, most of which boiled down to: Say the first thing that pops into your head, and don't let your intellect get in the way. It seems clear that second one does not seem to be giving her (or her followers) any problems.

I sincerely hope that Christopher Reeve and his family never heard about this prediction.

As bad as this one is, she's given equally potentially disastrous readings on Montel's show, some of which I hope Robert puts into articles.

I clearly remember that she once referred someone to "a blood doctor" which she said was called an oncologist!

Or told a woman looking for a diagnosis for her mother that the mother didn't have a tumor; the doctors had made a mistake and mistaken symptoms of lupus for a tumor.

Or the time she told a woman with lyme disease that the cure was a diet.

Or the time she told a young man who had a family history of brain aneurysms that he and his surviving family weren't at risk.

A news flash for you, Sylvia: they most certainly could be! How in heaven's name do you know that this man or any of his relatives aren't at risk? If you tell them everything's fine, you're making them ignore a potential problem. If you tell them the opposite and they in fact are allright, you are creating needless fear and very cruelly playing with their emotions.

No one has any buisness giving health advice unless they know that it's true.

I don't suppose there's any legal recourse for people who've been duped into ignoring serious medical problems or following an inappropriate course of treatment by Montel and Sylvia. Too bad. I'd love to see them both pay for what they've been doing. Hit them in their finances; it's obviously all they care about. Grr.

Don't feel bad about it! Think of it this way - now you have a unique perspective of both sides of the issue. You've been behind enemy lines, in the trenches, in their boardroom, and you know all the why's and how's about their operation and how an intelligent person could be taken in by them...good stuff!

No I don't think there is but yet if someone unqualified pretends to be a doctor, etc, they can be imprisoned or fined for treating people . She's no different and yet is enjoying her undeserved and sizeable fortune. :oldroll:

Hey - aren't spirit guides supposed to know everything? How come Francine never told her about the electoral college?

Sometimes I think Francine gets a kick out of making Sylvia look like an idiot.

And good article, RSL, for just being yet another incident where she's wrong. Perhaps not ground breaking, but accurate and that's what counts.

Another great article, Robert.

I noticed in the first sentence under the "Reeve's injury" heading, you have an extraneous "in" in there:

"Reeve's accident resulted in damage to his spinal cord, causing in an inability for signals from his brain to reach much of his body, including his extremities"

My thoughts exactly.

How would you ever "not know" something if you're a psychic?

And where does the wrong information come from? The "other 15 procent"? Where did you get, say, "she's in white slavery" from?!
