StopSylviaBrowne: Montel: Christopher Reeve Prediction

You're up really early today. :)

Nice article! And a big thank you to your correspondents.

I'm guessing that you found the transcript by going through the files I sent you. How did you locate it? Do you have a searchable version of them?

Oh yeah, she's psychic.

I wonder how many people she's managed to harm with her nonsensical predictions, and doctor role-playing? Kudos to you for all you do to stop this heifer from harming others. You're the best! :)

There was a commercial out that showed Christopher Reeve (no "s" -- she did say "Reeves"?) in the "future" actually getting up out of his wheelchair and walking. I believe it was promoting some sort of possibility of electrodes doing that very thing. I recall there being a bit of an uproar because it was so startling to see him walking again.

The thing that gets me is that shameless self-promotion right in the middle of the cold-reading! She wasn't even listening to that woman.

The more I read these transcripts, the more I'm baffled by Browne. How can so many people not see through her? It's so frustrating. :-(

~ggep~

I agree, though at the time this happened, Mr. Reeve was still alive and it may have sounded plausible enough to the avearge non-medically trained audience member. To later justify a failure like this, her fans could say, "He must have taken an early exit point before Sylvia's prediction about him could come true." But I believe the strength lies in the sheer number of cases Robert has up on the site by now. Taken in the context of an entire web site full of such examples, it's becomes much harder to dismiss.

Nice work RSL.

Actually, the ones sent by sgf8.

Both the .pdf and .doc versions are searchable via Windows Explorer's search function.

Thanks, Empress!

I almost mentioned that in the article, as some people are under the impression that he DID walk before he died, largely because of the special effects in that Superbowl commercial. It was advertising some investment firm, saying that investments help finance medical research. Search YouTube for "Christopher Reeve" and "commercial".

And, the official transcript has Browne saying "Reeves." I do not have the video, so I do not know if that is accurate.

No, she wasn't.

Yup.

I considered mentioning this as well. I wonder why Browne didn't say "Reeve will have this implant in less than a year and a half - unless of course he takes that exit point coming up this October..."

Nice work RSL.
Thanks, Ex-M.

Yet another sad article added to the files! The media through rebroadcasting episodes of Montel Williams will have turned people away from Sylvia Browne too. That's what happened to me here in England, when we see his shows it can be years after they were originally broadcast. You never know reruns could do her even more damage. All the same she is a self promoting menace and Robert's new article can only help in educating others about her dangerous true self. :)

Nice article, but sad. This woman wanted some answers and both Sylvia and Montel pretty much ignored her.
About the transcript, I'm sure she did say "Reeves." Many people unintentionally confuse the last names of the original tv series Superman George Reeves with the movies' Christopher Reeve.

It's amazing how even through just reading the transcript Sylvia is clearly changing the subject and ignoring the woman's actual question. I'm always saddened when people seek her for medical advice. A person's health is a serious issue.

These are all reasons why I think Montel Williams is as low as Sylvia Browne if not more so because for years he's allowed her to air her dangerous scam. You're right health is of paramount importance, if someone does a job by pretending to be a doctor they can be charged and imprisoned because it is a crime. So why not SB? After all it makes me wonder how many people have followed her advice and either become iller or even worse. I read on SSB about a case where SB told a woman her husband was poisoning her. After a terrible ordeal of splitting up they finally reconciled but the poor woman in question died a while after. How much did the advice SB gave her contributed to that we'll never know but without her interference things I'm sure would have been so different.

Now through educating myself on this subject I can see how these mediums work. Unfortunately unless you do take notice of how it's done you are more easily taken in by her and others. But once you know what to look for you should never be fooled again.

I sincerely hope that Christopher Reeve and his family never heard about this prediction.

As bad as this one is, she's given equally potentially disastrous readings on Montel's show, some of which I hope Robert puts into articles.

I clearly remember that she once referred someone to "a blood doctor" which she said was called an oncologist!

Or told a woman looking for a diagnosis for her mother that the mother didn't have a tumor; the doctors had made a mistake and mistaken symptoms of lupus for a tumor.

Or the time she told a woman with lyme disease that the cure was a diet.

Or the time she told a young man who had a family history of brain aneurysms that he and his surviving family weren't at risk.

A news flash for you, Sylvia: they most certainly could be! How in heaven's name do you know that this man or any of his relatives aren't at risk? If you tell them everything's fine, you're making them ignore a potential problem. If you tell them the opposite and they in fact are allright, you are creating needless fear and very cruelly playing with their emotions.

No one has any buisness giving health advice unless they know that it's true.

Speaking of her failed medical predictions, I wonder when Montel will get wise to her assurances of a cure for MS. I would have thought that would strike home.

I wish I had a link to her saying it, or him talking about it, because I'd love to see that article - especially if Montel was able to comment to you about it, RSL.

If she's going to keep dishing out quazi-medical advice then she could at least learn some terminology:

Fibrosis = Build up of collagen (fibr- = fiberous material (usually collagen), -osis = Too much)

Like with -itis = "inflammation of". People always misuse -itis to make up conditions. I heard someone say that they smoked too much weed once and had to go to hospital with "hashitis". I still wonder what inflammed cannabis looks like.

I've wondered lately Robert, have you ever managed to speak to Montel Williams personally or has he ever contacted you via e-mail?

I get the impression he would avoid communication with you for fear of tripping over himself, so to speak. He's played such a huge role in Sylvia Browne's deceptions and seems to have gone pretty quiet since his show was cancelled. I know you get to hear things first hand in the states so I could be entirely wrong.

It was the woman herself who said arthrofibrosis, though, not SB, and that is actually a correct medical term. In medical terminology, -osis is a suffix that means something along the lines of "condition of" or "pathologic condition of."

Montel has problems with conventional medicine and nutrition. He has decided to jump on the bandwagon himself with his Trudeau-esque site "Living Well with Montel". Here's a quote from the page:

In the course of my self-experimentation and on my journey of education, I discovered a truth that completely transformed my life, and I want to share it with you!
If you join up or buy my book. Otherwise, you won't be getting any information from me.

Somehow, I don't think he cares about Sylvia's prediction on MS.
