Nice. It's always good to know the struggle is making a difference. I think the articles like this on your site let all of us know here that we can help others who have fallen into the trap.

P.S. What happened to Kaz in the end? Did the show about her ever get aired?

Excellent job, Robert, it proves that providing the relevant information does indeed make a difference for the believers. Thanks to those persons who took the time to write.

In the third mail, this part got my attention:

In fact, my daughter-in-law-elect is STILL a huge fan of Browne's and refuses to read your site, despite my urging. She has told my son she wants to arrange a reading with Browne to see what she "forsees" in their relationship.

Such a person is apparently unable to make her own decisions or to put the necessary efforts to make a relationship work. Suppose she gets a reading on one of SB's bad hair day, and ... :rolleyes:
 
Some people do not want to be told that things they believe in are not right. Such things are a huge threat for people. It is being told you are a stupid, ignorant person and here is proof of it. Not what most people want to be told.

Edit. Fortunately not everyone is like that.

Well done Rob, you've saved people a few thousand dollars just with that small sample of emails - not to mention the emotional toll and disappointment.
 
No kidding, monoman. I think many have saved their money and it will doubtless be put to better use. About that man's future daughter-in-law, I hope she changes her mind. After all, in her view, she could have about 400 dollars.
If she does read the site, I hope she sends an email to Rob either way she takes it.

As for you, Rob and helpers, I always think of John Walsh at the end of every America's Most Wanted Show, "remember, you CAN (and DO) make a difference!"

As I've written before, though it is certainly worth repeating, you (and those that are helping you) make a difference. Money aside, saving just one person from the emotional toll someone like SB can exact on a victim I'd suggest is well worth your (et all) effort.

I agree.

I think this is especially true when it comes to homeopathy. A great many people are simply ignorant of what it is. In my personal experience (real life, that is, not the JREF forum), everyone who has listened to me explain what it is ends up as outraged about it as I am.

I think doing the same thing regarding a psychic requires a lot more tact and diplomacy than I have.

I suspect the people who encounter SB fall into 3 categories. I suspect that Houdini encountered this same 3 category issue when confronting Marjory in Boston. 1)Those that believe and would be hell to try and change their beliefs 2) Those that are unsure and she has to perform well to get this crowd on board and 3) Those who are friends/partners of those that believe who encountered her as skeptics and probably want to have sex later that night so they keep their skeptical opinions to themselves.

You, Robert, have done something that could only have been accomplished with a heroic effort -- you have not only gotten the middle crowd on-board you have influenced some of her hard core believers. I hope Sylvia is fading and you can start using your abilities to help other people duped in the name of religion.

If there was a god, you would be doing his work ;)
 
I got an idea reading email #4 where it said,

It might not be a bad idea to print out the web address for www.StopSylviaBrowne.com and tuck it into every copy of Sylvia's books in our local libraries. Check back from time to time and refresh whenever needed. Hmm.....

Most people go through life affecting only people they come in direct contact with, and those only in small ways. You have the knowledge that you have changed the world in some way even if it is only one person at a time.

I fully agree.

I don't know the English expression, but in my first language those e-mails would make the chest of Robert swell to the size of a gorilla.

Whatever the above actually translates to in English, at least I hope that it makes his better half, when reading this, admire him even more despite him spending so much time on the web site. :)
 
It gives me the warm fuzzies inside to think of people keeping their hard earned cash rather than paying for SB's services. It feels so much nicer than reading about yet another loathsome deed of hers.

It's very encouraging to see that Robert really is making a difference and not just preaching to the choir.
