• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

Merged StopSylvia emails

The family is living off the money she got from scamming people, and they are still peddling her books and material. They are scum too as far as I am concerned. I wouldn't give a rats ass as to what the family thinks of your website. In fact I hope by keeping it up it pisses them off more.

Well, evidently, the business' office is up for sale, but the business of selling her books, DVDs, tapes, etcetera is sure to go on for some time.

...the site is already moderately well-known as "Stop Sylvia Browne", and changing it to something like "Stop Sylvia Browne's posthumous reputation" just doesn't have a "ring" to it, you know?

I know. If you wanted to change it to something less awkward (at least to me), I'm sure a good name could be thought of. And though it would cost more, you could always keep the old domain and redirect it to the new one.

Books, DVDs, tapes, etc. still on sale? Well of course they are! Ya gotta move inventory!

Now how about readings from beyond the grave?

The business of Browne is still going, hence Stop Sylvia Browne is still totally appropriate. Your email reply was spot on. Keep the fight going, as you say there are still many books etc out there to suck people in, and your counter to that needs to continue as an available rescue beacon for the hapless ignorant among her victims.

You are a Gentleman and a Scholar, Sir!

Robert, what they fail to understand is, if Sylvia wants the site taken down, she can give you that message herself....from the "other side".

Stop Psychic Phonies

Stop Psychic Vultures

Stop Long Island Large

Stop Being a Dick

Wait, that last one's for me.

Unfortunately, I am currently still distracted by my recovery/therapy, but after that, who knows?

.
And that last is the most important on the list. In case you don't agree, check with Susan - I am pretty certain she does!!! And it isn't really a distraction, it's the big thing until it is no longer needed!!!:):):):)

Obviously, the cost for a reading will have to go up - her line is now as direct as you can get!!!!!

You did the right thing. If there is an afterlife, she is burning in a lake of fire and brimstone, and will stop counseling people. Otherwise, let us not forget the harm a fraud can do.

Why can't you just register a more appropriate domain name and re-direct this one to that one?

Yes, if I do choose a new domain name for it (not planned at present, but I am open to suggestions), forwarding from the current one to the new one will definitely be done.

Yes, but don't forget that there are young grandchildren of hers who are living off of that money, through no fault of their own, and who have no choice in the matter.

I have heard that, after my site broke the story of Browne's having told Shawn Hornbeck's parents that he was dead, at least one of those children caught a lot of grief from classmates (junior high, I believe) for being Browne's grandchild, and came home from school crying more than one time because of it.

I hope that Browne heard about it, and that she felt badly about it (but I would not bet on the latter).

I hate to be crass, but isn't this the final prediction failure to mention on your site, Mr. Lancaster? If memory serves, and so often it doesn't, but it tells me she predicted her death at the age of 88. I think she was about a decade short on that.

Yes, I hope to add an article about her passing to the site at some point, when both my health and site technical difficulties allow, but don't hold your breath.

If/when I do, it will mention, in the least crass way I can, her being eleven years off on her prediction of her own death (she was 77, not 88 (her prediction).

Her supporters will, of course, bring up her oft-repeated excuse that she can't be psychic about herself, but that raises the question "Well then, why did she confidently state on Larry King Live that she would die when she was 88?"

I received two more emails today asking/suggesting that I take the site down now.

Each of the three (today's two plus the one in the OP) is from a different email address (although I have yet to check the headers) and is worded differently, but I am beginning to wonder if someone has suggested writing me about this on some pro-SB site somewhere.

I don't hope it pisses them off. I have a faint hope it educates them.

Very faint.

I had to take some time to think about this before I posted. (Why, yes, that IS sawdust you're smelling...)

Sylvia Browne, for all her claims, inflicted more pain, more heartache, more misery than any hope she offered. I think of KellyJ and her efforts with Project Jason, I think of others who work towards helping others through valid, honorable efforts, and I think very frequently of those who managed to survive the horrors, such as Jaycee Dugard, Elizabeth Smart, and the three victims who escaped in Cleveland. I think of people who are working to make a serious difference in the lives of others, and the reality that they, of all people, should be honored for their efforts.

And then I'm reminded of Amanda Berry's mother being told, "She's not here, honey." I'm reminded of Shawn Hornbeck's family. I'm reminded of so many others.

Robert, when we had lunch yesterday, I was reminded of how much of a gentleman you are, and how much of a lady Susan is. You guys stuck to the facts, and helped others see through the garbage, straight through to the end.

Take the site down? Oh, HELL NO. The reality is that leaving that site up reminds the world of who Sylvia Browne was. And that shows her far more respect than taking it down ever could.

Leave it up just like it is! It's a valuable tool for people. SB may be gone but as you said, her goodies market lives on. Maybe it will keep one person from buying something, that's a start.

There is a possibility that some day (don't hold your breath) both StopSylvia and StopKaz could become just subsections of a larger "Stop Frauds"-type site, to which I could eventually add my planned Stop sites/sections on John Edward, James VanPraagh, Benny Hinn, Peter Popoff, Kevin Trudeau and Phil Plait <== (TAM 5.5 IN-JOKE)

Unfortunately, I am currently still distracted by my recovery/therapy, but after that, who knows?

Get better first. The frauds will still be out there.

BTW, I think I asked you this before, but whatever happened to Kaz?
