Merged StopSylvia emails

Sad, though I'm sure she was very well prepared for it and probably even when to the hospital before it happened (using her psychic powers to see into the future).

Now, now, HP. You just don't seem to understand how her "powers" work.

She has said many times that she cannot be psychic about herself.

...which is true, as far as it goes. It would be even truer if she added "...or anyone else."

Not to wish anything on anyone, but if I were going to wish evil on anyone, being very rich all their life and having a stroke at 77 isn't the evil I'd wish. Seems to me that even if she dies now, she's done ok for herself.

Moved

As mentioned above, the building with the "Sylvia Browne Corporation" and "Society of Novus Spiritus" offices is for sale. (See the logos on the sale listing.)

According to the Society of Novus Spiritus, both operations are no longer at that address:

What is the Campbell Community Center?

A City of Campbell owned site where activities, adult classes and rooms are rented for events. A non-profit can rent a room for as low as $35 an hour.
Campbell Community Center said:
The Campbell Community Center is a unique community service complex. The site, which formerly housed the city's only high school, was purchased by the City of Campbell from the Campbell Union High School District in August of 1985. The facility was purchased primarily for the purpose of preserving its open space and recreational facilities for the use and enjoyment of the citizens of Campbell. An added highlight was the preservation of the beautiful historic buildings that front Campbell Avenue. Many of the classroom buildings are leased to various non-profit organizations, educational institutions and small businesses for the purpose of generating revenue to off-set the facility's operational costs. The City reserves specific areas to house the variety of recreation programs offered for citizens of all ages. The offices for the City's Recreation and Community Services Department are located on-site (Building C, Room 31).

When the City is not using the facilities for its classes and programs, it makes them available to the community for social, educational, athletic, and cultural activities. The available facilities include two banquet halls, several meeting rooms and classrooms, two gymnasiums, the football field, the plaza and adjacent athletic fields.

For those keeping track, this is Browne's offices third move in three years. In 2010, Craig Cheatham visited her offices in Campbell, California where viewers could see the office as he interviewed Linda Rossi. In the interview, Rossi said revenue is down 50% and they would have to move to a new address.

In 2010, the offices of Sylvia Browne Corporation were:
Sylvia Browne Corporation
1700 Winchester Blvd. Suite 100
Campbell, CA 95008
From 2011-2013:
Sylvia Browne Corporation
6000 Hellyer Ave. Suite 150
San Jose, CA 95138

As of November 2013:

That new address shares offices with an animal hospital and a property management business.

I hope Brattus comes back and explains that odd post. But it seems he is staying far away.

Anyway, all these rumours are troubling. Strokes are nothing to be happy about - for anyone. My father had several before he passed and his last one was extremely severe.

Robert, I had read your site from top to bottom (well, not recently!) and I NEVER recall you EVER, here or there, taking ANY credit for Sylvia's health one way or another.

As a poster above said, even if Sylvia passes on at 77 she's done alright for herself. My father was the first in his family line to live past his 50's, so 77 sounds pretty darned good, actually.

He's not staying that far away, but my request for clarification got me a bit of a slap for being a busybody.

It would seem to me that such a vague accusation, with no attempt made to support it indicates an issue more within the accuser than the accused, and can safely be ignored as sour grapes.

Ah. Well. I'm sorry about that, chillzero. I may get a bit of a slap, too. I just read a remark of his in another thread and expressed concern that he does not seem to be himself; sort of like I fear he may be going off his rails a bit right now.

Thank you. No pain involved :)
I'm more sorry that he saw fit to throw nasty comments at someone without any justification.

I don't really know him very well, but I hope any concern you show is taken in the spirit in which you offer it.

Thanks for asking!

I am still a "left-side hemiplegic" (I have little to no control over the muscles in the left half of my body), and so continue to live my life in a (motorized) wheel chair, as I have for more than five years now.

As I wrote about a couple of weeks ago in my recent thread "Some exciting (for me) news about my stroke recovery", I have started to regain a small bit of control over my left arm and leg, and am working with a therapist to make as much of that as I can, although the muscles are seriously atrophied after five years of non-use, so it will continue to be a long, slow, uphill battle).

Well that is great news!

That Teresa is a Fake website had an ad for a Psychic Reading (I know they can't control the ads)........

I always wonder how these bitches can live with themselves. Silvia is just pathetic! She is such a bitch too! I saw SouthPark this week "The Biggest Douche in the Universe" episode. I highly recommend it if you have not seen it.

Of course it's fake they are all fake.
The one thing I can not understand about the posters on this site is how they have it backwards.

All the "psychics" in the world could just vanish and an hour later they would all be replaced by new ones.
The new ones could vanish and they would be replaced in an hour by still newer ones.

Why? Because the masses want them. If no one stepped up to replace the "psychics" that vanished then the masses would invent one.
Like a invisible man in the sky who loves them.

They stand in line money in hand waiting for someone, anyone to tell them what to do.

The only way to change that is to change the way the media in general pimps off that crap.
Most people see it on TV and that is it. Nothing can change their mind after that.
If you want to blame someone blame the Larry Kings and Montels of the tube. They would sell their own Mothers for a half a percentage point in the ratings.
Really you can't even blame them because they are created and driven by the corporate machine to sell anything the masses want.

And the masses want "psychics".

I received the following email at StopSylvia, with the subject "This was my experience with Sylvia Brown":

See what I mean?
Heard about them through the media. Looking for a short cut through life. (aka stupid lazy) Sent money. Didn't like what they got for spent money. Came to conclusion SB was fake. Off to find "true psychic".

Never ending circle. Never ending stupidity.

With the small percentage of bad people among us the simple odds are on that a few will be bad enough to take advantage of that.

They also have long-term leases available for rooms, which I expect would be cheaper.

http://www.ci.campbell.ca.us/recreation/communitycenter/lease.htm

The list of tenants on that page hasn't been updated yet, but the room number in your post corresponds to the community center's room numbering.

Most of the rooms listed are educational related. None are explicitly religious or woo based or even commercial.

...and yet, the name of the business/building in which those rooms exist sorta makes them ALL of those things, doesn't it?

Just a thought.

Brattus:

If I'm following your line of reasoning, it is MORE than them simply "not liking what they got for their money", but them finding out that the person to whom they gave that money is most likely NOT what they had advertised themselves to be.

And I still do not understand why you persist in using the deliberately offensive word "stupidity" about anyone and everyone who consults a psychic. I would think that "ignorance" would not only be less confrontational, but more accurate as well.

Most of the rooms listed are educational related. None are explicitly religious or woo based or even commercial.

Not commercial? Most of them are there to make money through education.

Also, yoga has its religious/woo aspects.

Asif this weren't enough

I noted several weeks ago that:
The Tucson Weekly has an ad for "Sylvia Browne, an afternoon of insights and live readings."

Date and time: December 14, 2013. Doors open at 1 pm; show at 2

The casino ad continues to show Browne as performing, despite what has been reported here about her condition.

And now, in this week's issue of the newspaper, there is an interview with the organizer of a symposium that started yesterday and continues through tomorrow.

http://www.tucsonweekly.com/tucson/t-q-and-a/Content?oid=3906706

And who is appearing? Among others, our friend Gary Schwartz, of course! The organizer says that Schwartz has "quite a bit a* research on energy medicine--and on mediums, people who can talk to dead relatives. He's done it in a way that is scientifically vigorous" [sic].

Further, "Beyond reasonable doubt, you could say [Schwartz] has almost** proven that there is something beyond death."

Other presenters include "Dr Ann Badlwin [who] has done research on reiki and documented physiological changes that occur to the body" when a person undergoes reiki treatment; and a neuropsychologist who will discuss the healing effect of music on the brain.

Th organizer of the event claims that "the world's leading researchers" on energy healing are in Tucson; and that the field is "in the closet the same as yoga, meditation and acupuncture were in the closet 10 to 20 years ago."

Alive and well, that's woo in Tucson.

* I take "quite a bit a research" to be the reporter's transcribing without understanding that 'a' here = 'of' in the organizer's casual speech. On the other hand, "vigorous" could be either the reporter's error or the organizer's.

Interestingly, the reporter limits the ability of mediums to communicate only with 'relatives.' The sentence structure is such that only the medium's relatives are the interlocutors.

** my emphasis

[end derail]
