StopSylvia emails: Wow & You really don't disappoint

Although I've never been convinced by the God / psychic / spiritual argument (I was lucky my parents didn't ram it down my throat), I always found it hard to explain why I just didn't get it. The day I came across the SSB site (a few years ago now) was the day I found someone who had a similar view to me, could argue their point in a fair way and didn’t let anger form the basis of the argument (although at times I’m sure it was there). Your site set me on the road which led me to the JREF, and finally to join this forum.
So I would like to thank you Robert (If I may be so informal) and all the JREF members for their interesting debates, views and research – many of which have helped me in religious debates on more than one occasion!

Finally - It is good to have you back

Regards

IBT

My eyes welled up too orph - but then, thanks to my emotional lability, they well up at just about ANYTHING. My poor psychiatrist needs to buy stock in Kleenex.

:hug5 Well, let me assure you, this time your eyes didn't well up over nothing.
That line, and in fact both letters, were really something.

That's great to hear! A hearty welcome to the forum! :)

Many thanks, IBT!

I am glad to hear that you feel I have helped you on your journey.

And you have made my eyes well up yet again!

RSL

RSL, you do realise that now you have made people aware of this site they will keep checking for articles - you really should stop making a rod for your own back! HeHe

IBT

IBT, I announced my intentions to create that site - and four others - in 2007, at TAM5.0 or 5.5, and have mentioned them here several times since then. I don't know if I'm making a rod for my own back or not, but I am definitely announcing things too early!

RSL

Ah, that's what happens when you get to the party late, you miss all the news!

This was before I had really got into the JREF

Another lesson learnt - check before posting!

All the best

There has always been an option on the site's Contact page for "subscribing to site update notiications." It sends me an email at a seperate address for that purpose. Using it now is not a good idea, as my maintenance of that email list no longer works.

I used the list to send out an email announcing each new article as it went up.

How do we find out when you have updated something on your website? Do we need to depend on you starting a thread here about it or is there a better way?

Suggest you start a new e-mail list. Either that or allow software like Google reader to know when you have done updates.

I was so glad to see new articles appearing on your site, Robert. I've been visiting it since the very beginning. Congratulations on your continued recovery.

Wow, Robert, good on you! You still continue to inspire and amaze me. And I'm so glad people write in about how you helped them thru your site. I'm almost surprised so many people find it before going to see her. I really wonder if when they hear the price of her readings and "salons" that THEN they Google and see StopSylvia.com. But regardless of why they chose to look her up I'm glad they did.

I, personally don't mind new threads announcing new articles. There are so may threads here anyway, and I don't recall many people complaining. Threads are good, imo. :)

I will continue to start threads here (in General Skepticism & The Paranormal) each time I add a new article.

I also hope to add an RSS feed to the site.

I will consider starting a new list. The existing one is over 500 email addresses long, but at least 100 of them result in "no such address" return messages. I am not familiar with Google reader. would an RSS feed do the same thing?

Thanks, Min! Few people complained, but the ones who did were pretty vocal. I have confirmed with the moderators that GS&P is the correct place for those threads in future.

Yes, Google Reader is just one of a number of programs which will read your RSS feed. Microsoft Outlook is another popular one.

This might get you started

RSL, I too found out about the JREF through your stop Kaz site. Since then, I lurk on this forum about 3 hours a day.

The work you do inspired me, and has opened my eyes to the wonders of our world.

I can honestly say that RSL and the JREF changed my life. I was on the fence for a long time about the supernatural, but your well written and informative posts persuaded me to think long and hard about my beliefs. Although it was a painful process, I emerged refreshed and had a totally different outlook on life.

All of you should be commended. Seemingly innocuous posts to some can be life changers for others.

Also, thanks to Kitakaze, I’m not afraid of Bigfoot or the woods anymore!
Back to lurking.

Getting a RSS feed almost makes the e-mail list redundant, as they both have the same function.
