I received the following email on StopSylvia today, with the subject "Hummmmmm":

Good evening,,,hope you are still gaining strength in your fight for health. Personal experience reminds me the battle that that can be.


You don't know me, but my name is [Name]. I live in [State] and I study spirituality under Sylivias church Novus Spiritus. I first read her book Adventures of a Psychic 15 years ago as I too battled illness. For me the reading saved my life and opened my heart to new options. Up til that time I had been raised Catholic.


I am only writing to you in response after being directed the the extreme energy you have placed in making her into anything but nice. This was brought to my attention after my daughter (10 years old) shared with her teacher that she was taking "bible" study in the evenings with her family. Needless to say the teacher found your website and contacted me with concern.


I personally prefer to study and to believe this way and I prefer that my children learn the same way. The whole premise is to love without judgement and to allow everyone there own pace and direction. I did not find this guidance in the Catholic or Baptist churches and the Unity Church was close but not quite it. I have heard Sylvia talk about loving skeptics and teaches listeners to love them for their energy,,,I do wish it were not your opinions that my daughters teacher first found on the internet with regard to our very personal family time,,,but it is what it is.


Like you and me and many many ministers and priests,,,we are human and bound to learn from our mistakes. I thank you for opening my eyes and letting me see finally how lucky I am that I am not famous and that no one yet cares to read my words.


I wish you well and hope that you find Peace to allow Sylvia to help those of us who have no money to send to her anyway. Some things really just don't matter and some things just do.

Interesting approach. "You are attacking my religion and my ability to teach my beliefs to my daughter."
I am interested in seeing RSL's response, as I don't know what I am supposed to "probably expect" him to say.

I suspect that Robert replied by pointing out that his site doesn't contain very many opinions. His stories lay out the facts, with references and requests for any notification of errors. The reader is encouraged to review and make up their own mind.

That said, I still would like to read his actual response as Robert is always very eloquent that way.

Well, not always.

Here is my rather pedestrian reply:

First, thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with me.

As for my health I am still in a wheelchair, and hemiplegic, but working on getting better - thanks.

If reading "Adventures of a Psychic" did inded save your life, then I am glad that you read it. As I believe I say on the site, if all Browne did was write her books and promote her "philosophy", I doubt I ever would have created my site about her. Unfortunately, that is NOT all she does.

When I read your email aloud to my wife Susan, she said that you haven't read much of the site, and I tend to agree. I truly believe that an honest reading of the site would lead ANYONE to realize that there are far more reasons to doubt her claim to be psychic than there are to believe it.

You mention the energy I have put into "making her anything but nice" when SHE did all of those things, and all I did was document them all in one place for those who are interested. If what SHE has done makes her "anything but nice", whose fault is that? If you can find anything I say about her on my site which is untrue or inaccurate, please bring it to my attention so that I can correct or remove it If you cannot, I don't know how you can disapprove of my site.

Also, I document more than a dozen cases on the site where her "reading" about a missing or murdered person was largely proven to be incorrect.

I know of NONE where she turned out to be even MOSTLY right. If you know of even ONE such case, PLEASE tell me about it. I will research it and put it up on my site. If you DON'T know of a single such case, I really don't know why you believe in her "abilities" other than the fact that you like and agree with her "philosophy".

By the way, if you are letting your daughter make up her own mind about these things, might I suggest hat you let her read my site as well as your studying Novus together. As a matter offact, if you read the articles aloud to her, pointingt out to her what you think is wrong or misleading in them, I think it might be helpful to you both.

He seems like a nice guy. Personally i think it shows RSL as the nasty selfish person he is. Because i believe he picks on easy targets like Sylvia in order to fuflfull his need to be seen as some sort of authority figure.

How about just letting people make up their own mind? Or even remaining anonymous? Just be honest you just want the kudos, thats why you do this.

Isn't ... that the point of his site to present evidence and let you conclude from that?
 
So he claims, yet he never publishes any emails of success stories. How balanced is that?

Are mind-control techniques being used? We should argue both positions at the same time to avoid offending you? :rolleyes: Psychics are dangerous and ruin people's lives as often as they "help" them.

Remaining anonymous makes you less accountable to your peers and also, less able to interview people etc.
Honestly what's wrong with doing a public service on the internet using your full name, opening yourself to public attack, are you advocating cowardly behavior or what?

No, i don't believe in psychic ability. Still does not change the fact he refuses to publish success stories and i know he has recieved emails with success stories.
