I used to transcribe lectures by Sylvia and trance material by Francine. They were always saying how there was such a big obvious difference between Sylvia and Francine - Francine was so literal and so much more of a stickler for good grammar.

Surprise, when you transcribe the material for either of them, it sounds exactly the same. Rambling, run-on sentences, noun-verb disagreement all over the place. You'd almost think they were one and the same person! The same person who wasn't paying attention in high school English. Never mind the English degree.

I'm not sure it's a case of birds of feather, though. I did know a few ministers/staff/fans who had college degrees.

Of course, I may be just trying to cheer myself up.

Anyone can fall for anything, in the right circumstances. You're obviously an intelligent, competent person.
 
You don't need to worry about the Angles: it's the Saxons and the Jutes you have to watch out for.

It is always possible that the more intelligent, educated ex-Sylvia Browne fans don't write a lot of emails to Robert. Dear Robert, I have read every article on your site and wow do I feel stupid. Glad I didn't make that appointment I was about to make 5 minutes ago. Even gladder I didn't mention this to my wife. Pretending this never happened, Ex-Fan of otherwise Average Intelligence

I was just kidding with sadhatter, mostly. I do happen to know that there is a wide range of people drawn to Browne of varying educational and intelligence levels, for a wide range of reasons. I would guess that is true for most of the psychics and mediums.

I just keep in mind that these are the very people I am trying to reach with the site, and I welcome the opportunity to dialog with them. And that replying to them in kind would be counterproductive to getting them to really consider my points.

I do get emails very much along those lines, and have published some on the site.

It's actually up to 60,000 now and I agree with ExMinister it's really depressing.

Her newest event "Sylvia's Spirit Guide Francine will answer 2 personal questions from each person attending this special event." of 35-45 people called a "Spiritual Salon". I called the number to ask how much it costs and it is $1,000 per person :jaw-dropp

She has been running these "spiritual salons" at her headquarters for years. 35-45 people, each paying 1k to see her "channel" francine. they used to hold them twice each month.

I would caution you against making assumptions like this. English is likely not the writer's native language, and if I were to submit a writing sample in a second language, I'm sure the grammar would be atrocious. Perhaps nowadays in the developed world, English proficiency is a decent indicator of education, but we don't know the writers age or country of origin.
 
I found it interesting as well as a bit curious that in the email, the person always used the capital 'Y' at the beginning of "You", regardless of where it was in the sentence. Usually the only time I see people writing like that is when the are referring to God in a sentence, and it is capitalized each time. As I said, it just seemed curious. I don't recall ever seeing anyone writing like that before.
