Stewart takes Olberman to task, Olberman Apologizes

I thought this was interesting. I generally don't like Olberman. I think he's too much of a windbag. It seems Stewart thought so as well, and mocked him. But I didn't expect this: Olberman apologized. Wow.

http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmem...tle-over-the-top-lately-point-taken-sorry.php

I'm not going to waste my time watching Olbermann, so I have to ask, was it an actual apology or a non-apology apology?

Actual apology: "What I did was wrong, I shouldhave known better, and I will try to never do it again."

v

Non-apology apology: "I'm sorry you were offended. I didn't actually say or do anything wrong, but I will go through the motions of an apology to appease those unreasonably sensitive people who criticise me."

No, he has a nice cushy softball session with one exception.

Besides, this just means Olbermann is the Carson Daily to O'Reilly's Letterman

He also interviewed Hillary during her campaign and I thought he was actually pretty tame. Compared to some of his contemporaries, anyway.
Oh SNAP! Bam, zing! You got me!

Oh, wait a minute.... campaign? 04 Sep 2008? Obama wasn't the president yet. I said not this president. As president, he's only been on Dave and Jay. The nature of the interviews is not the point.

Sorry, I forgot to call you out on this too

Really? Because they've appeared on each other's shows. O'Reilly is generally complinetary of Stewart (if somewhat backhanded)
call me out? lol
Are you suggesting that O'Reilly never mocks people once they appear on his show? Because that's unbelievably wrong. O'Reilly mocked Stewart while he was on STEWART'S show, for crying out loud. Also, Colbert's show is entirely based on O'Reilly, and they've been on each other's shows, but at the end of the day, Colbert's show's point is to demolish people like O'Reilly.

No, he made fun of Jon Stewart, showed us he doesn't know what "apex" means, and made a half hearted apology.
Show me a clip or any other proof of anyone on Fox News ever apologizing to Jon Stewart for anything ever. No? Then my point stands.

Why would anyone on FOX News need to apologize to Stewart? Olbermann was probably shocked that Stewart even bothers to monitor Countdown. Considering K.O's ratings, he needs to apologize to MSNBC every time he cashes his paychecks.

Did I say anything like that? Could you quote me?

O'Reilly mocked Stewart while he was on STEWART'S show, for crying out loud.

Well, ya. It's a political satire show. Plenty of guests have taken pokes at Stewart. Michael J Fox did it when Stewart first took the show over. Stewart doesn't seem to mind.

Although, O'Reilly was doing more of a caricature of himself so Stewart couldn't just rip him up.

Also, Colbert's show is entirely based on O'Reilly, and they've been on each other's shows, but at the end of the day, Colbert's show's point is to demolish people like O'Reilly.

It's actually aimed aty those shows in general. Most of them happen to be right wing. KO only differs in that he is from the left. KO is pretty much like Glenn Beck, just from the left. Colbert takes shots at his style too.

Show me a clip or any other proof of anyone on Fox News ever apologizing to Jon Stewart for anything ever. No? Then my point stands.

Uh, I linked to Hannity apologizing to Stewart in the very post you are poorly trying to refute.

But, you know, don't let the facts get in the way of a good rant.

Oh SNAP! Bam, zing! You got me!

Ya, thanks. We can all plainly see that.

Oh, wait a minute.... campaign? 04 Sep 2008? Obama wasn't the president yet. I said not this president. As president, he's only been on Dave and Jay. The nature of the interviews is not the point.

Seriously? That's what you've got? You don't think when he's campaigning, he'll show up on O'Reilly? Has there been any indication of him show up on Olbermann?

No. I don't think he'll show up on O'Reilly as the president, even when he's campaigning.

And yes, that's what I've got. I said not this president, and what do you know, Obama has never appeared on O'Reilly's show as the president - only as a candidate. I was right. You were wrong. Can you dig it? Olbermann had Obama on his show as a candidate, TOO. There goes your access argument. You were wrong about THAT. But don't let facts get in the way of a good post.

Watching Stewart on O'Reilly. O'Reilly to Stewart: "You've got stoned slackers watching your dopey show." "Your target audience is 18-25 - on your intellectual level." Feel the 'complimentary' there. Fail for you. Not so good today, huh?

However, Hannity did apologize to Stewart. So you were right about that. I apologize - but I thank you for reading my posts. I'm pretty sure Hannity's apology was at most 3/4-hearted.

Really, it's just sad. You're just scrambling to make yourself look right.

But, hey, are we gonna make a bet? Obama makes his next appearance on O'Reilly before Olbermann?

I agree that it's sad. Probably not for the reasons you do, though.

I am right. YOU are wrong, dude. That's why you're glossing over it and moving on to this bet thing - to try to sweep your wrongness under the rug. Unfortunately, you can't even get THAT right.

You see, as a presidential candidate, Senator Obama appeared on Olbermann's show 14 Mar 2008.

However, as a presidential candidate, Senator Obama didn't appear on O'Reilly's show until September 2008, five months later (during which time he again appeared on Olbermann). So there's already a precedent for Obama to appear on Olbermann's show before he appears on O'Reilly's show.

I'd Say it was an actual apology. "Nah, you know what, you're right. I have been a little over the top lately. Point taken. Sorry"

Although, we'll see if it was in earnest or not.

Olbermann did not apologize to Senator-Elect Brown.

Keith Olbermann apologizes for saying something stupid. "Wow" indeed. Wow.

Wow.

Well, at least he apologized and admitted it was "over the top".

I'm still no fan of his or his show, though. He's unfunny, obnoxious, smarmy and his delivery is nails on chalkboard.

Ya, he appeared on Olbermann when he was an also ran for what was perceived as Hillary's seat and was made out to be a further left alternative to her.

When he actually won the Democratic nomination and became a heavy weight, he does a big time show.

Like how singers start on Carson Daly's show when they are just busting out and go on Letterman's show when they are A-list.

I noticed you won't take the bet. That speaks volumes.

I noticed you'd rather make lame excuses and change the subject than admit you were wrong multiple times. THAT speaks volumes.
