You can't put it in a folder because the OS sees it as a folder and in iOS you can't put a folder in a folder...unless you cheat. Hold the Newstand icon and the moment it jiggles slide it into another folder. There's tutorials on the web on how to do it

1. Create new folder by dragging one app onto another
2. While the folder is being created quickly drag in the newstand
3. ???
4. Profit

But don't open the newstand app else it all goes horribly wrong

Thanks friends, I did indeed do this. Makes me smile that I literally took time out of my day, in 2011, to deal with this.

I went all crazy and only have one page now. About half icons/half folders. Speeds up my desire to app launch ratio considerably.
