Sterling has the last Laugh, Ballmer offers to buy Clippers for record $2B

When I heard the news on GMA this morning I had a good laugh. Why am I not surprised about this?

Why isn't there a thread on this? Isn't this really big news? Adam Silver punishes fellow jew Donald Sterling by throwing him out of the NBA and forcing him to sell the team and it's rumored that a black group might buy the team but now, the team is bought by, who woulda thunk it, another jew. Seems no one else is going to beat this bid, certainly not Magic or Oprah.

So what do we conclude about money, power and race from this? Did jews just show blacks who really has the power (and by extension, Donald Sterling is at least justified in his remarks about who pays whom) or is this just another interesting coincidence?

I have no axe to grind here, I just think this is really funny and I do mean haha funny.

So what do the skeptics conclude, nothing to see here, move along?

I think jewishness is more than religion, it is also blood and probably more imporant than that, it's community. I know that it's possible to convert to judaism but I also know that if the mother is jewish, the children are considered jewish by birth. So there is more to it than religion. This is how Steve Ballmer comes to be a jew. He is by birth from his mother. I don't know if he is a practicing jew or not. I do know that I found him in a list of the fifty wealthiest jews that was in the Jerusalem Post. Not sure what that has to do with religion either. I also know that he visits Israel and I am not sure if that is religious or not.

Don't forget, Donald Sterling said that when jews do well, they help their community. I am not sure Ballmer buying his team for top dollar is what he meant by that but it is certainly how it worked for Michael Dell when he was in trouble back in 1993. In 1994, he hired Mort Topfer from Motorola who turned the company back from the edge of destruction and away it went with the stock going insane the next 6 years. Oh yes, Mort Topfer is a Brooklyn born jew. In addition, in 1990 when the company was entering it's growth phase, Michael turned to Mort Meyerson another prominent and successful jewish businessman for help in the transition. The jewish community has rallied around Michael Dell and he has also given back to it. This isn't about religion I don't think.

None of this is particularly bad or evil, it's just the way it is and to pretend otherwise is to deny the facts.

No, but I don't see what the point of emphasizing the possible future owner's religion and/or ethinicity with respect to the former owner's religion and/or ethnicity (or stigmatizing mental illness, for that matter) has to do with the over-all event here. Sterling was forced to divest himself of the Clippers because he was caught saying racist things, not because he was Jewish.

You mean that the religion/ethnicity of the former owner of the Clippers and the religion/ethnicity of the possible future owner of the Clippers is wholly irrelevant to the sale thereof?

That there seems to be little justification for you questioning of coincidence besides that the transaction involved two Jew rather than two Christians.
