Steorn Update?

This thread is as good as any other. I just learned that Steorn is back in with new claim , !webinar" and a product.

From the description it just sound like that they are just having battery, with a capacitor and an antena to catch the stray radio smog or a joule thief.

Anyone still following those deluded guys ?

Have they no shame? Apparently not!

I think it was a given after their failed demo, their pretense to go with different iteration of the orbo which was not fully mechanized anymore then fully "solid state", and now a completely different stuff.

It does not seem this thread has taker, shame I hope to have a different conversation than gun, germ and religion ;).

I'll check other forums and see if i find anything solid or funny to report...

You can sign up for the live webinar presentation of their latest iteration of the scam paradigm destroying innovation here

You have to admire a guy who can get Euro 2,000,000 funding after 15 years of failure

It's a shame I have morals and empathy. There's good money in being an amoral con artist.

This step of hiring someone with high level experience in investment banking seems to me to indicate that, despite the stated 7 to 10 year time frame, they may actually be making an honest attempt to raise more money, rather than giving up

I do not think that word means what they think it means....

Steorn have, finally, gone into liquidation.

Shaun McCarthy has stated his intention of making his living through online poker, though it's not clear whether that was as a player or as an online casino entrepreneur.

(Hat-tip to vbloke, who brought the story to my attention. It's happened rather quietly: the liquidation was reported in the Irish press on 13 November.)

All told they had a long run and milked a lot of people. It was an impressive run for that kind of con job.

Their entry at the Companies Registration Office is here but says little of interest.

Orbo reminds me of a package that arrived on my desk (since I was the most junior member of the team) with a demand (more like a threat, really) that we at the Central Electricity Research Laboratory examine it.

The report it contained was 12 pages of hand-written screed, the graphs were hand-drawn in felt-tip marker pen without even the aid of a straightedge, and the letter threatened to take the idea to our competitors if we didn't take it up immediately.

I took the VHS tape home and watched it. It showed a small wheel with magnets on its rim with another rotating ring of magnets around that. Not dissimilar to Orbo.

To this day, I have no idea what the author was on about. I only assume that it was a concept for a perpetual motion machine. I do remember him complaining that science was a dogma-filled religion, something McCarthy has also claimed.
