9/11 Memorial builder Bovis Lend Lease getting watchdog after evidence of bill-padding

Bovis Lend Lease, the contractor behind the 9/11 Memorial, will appoint a special watchdog to audit its finances after investigators found evidence of possible fraud.


The contractor building the 9/11 Memorial has been ordered to hire a special watchdog after city probers found evidence of bill-padding.

The Port Authority has ordered Bovis Lend Lease to pay for an independent monitor to track its finances to review "past and future financial activities," a spokesman said. The monitor will report to the PA's inspector general.
