After listening to the address, I expect the GOP and Tea-party response will hit heavily on:

1) Calling for some tax cuts, but adding new programs
2) The federal minimum wage increase is either wrong, or useless
3) No new details on immigration reform needs, except he wants it
4) He bragged about Obamacare, but left out (insert GOP and Tea party talking points)

I expect jokes about how desperate he is because he asked people to get their moms to sign up for Obamacare.

That was a very good speech; it left almost no room for a reply. I'm anticipating a lot of Republican blood on the ground after they walk into a buzz-saw with their responses.

That was one of the most vacuous responses I ever heard.

She basically went on a while about her being a girl from fast food and selling apples and having babies (or something), then went over a lot of the president's points by saying "And the republican's have a plan for that!", but never told what it was. I think she fell right into one of the traps in the president's speech, who pointed that out.

Why can't the Republicans get someone who can make a speech without invoking God? They keep putting these dingbats in front of the media instead of competent politicians.

2011: 42.8 million
2012: 37.8 million
2013: 33.5 million

Fewer and fewer people seem to be interested each year. Couldn't find this year's ratings yet but the trend suggests it might be less than 30 million.

I guess things are going well then. No wars, no terror attacks. Nothing to worry about. Clinton had a record 67 million in '93. Sex sells.

I'm cool with that . Must admit that every time I hear Sharpton I think T. Brawley. He does not impress me.

I used to be annoyed with Al Sharpton too but he has really toned down since he started appearing on MSNBC. It's difficult to criticize him when they had people like S.E. Cupp.

It did seem to have been a particularly uncontroversial speech. The main negative response is the republican's vowing to keep an eye on Obama to make sure he doesn't exceed his constitutional bounds. That's pretty smart: it panders to people who believe Obama is the kind of person that ignores the constitution , but doesn't actually accuse him of anything.
