Does anybody have any thoughts about bringing spouses/significant others to TAM3 that aren't going to take part in the main events.

My wife wants to go. I'm a little nervous about exposing her to you guys and your skeptic ways as it is seeing that she's a catholic. Of course she's been exposed to my skeptic ways and she's survived that.

Are there any spouse type events that are available when one of the spouses hasn't signed up for TAM3?

I'm trying to talk my wife into going, but the difficulty is in getting time off, and what to do with The Little Astronomer. Also, it cramps my style with the skepchicks.

But I wouldn't hesitate to bring her if she can come. She would be a serious addition to the cause. She makes me look gullible.

A catholic, eh? Hmmm.....we can roast her for lunch....yum, yum... :D

Nah, bring her along. I'd like to know what she thinks of miracles.

That reminds me... we must have "Coffee and Danish" for breakfast again. And this time it´s your turn, Claus. :D

Tell your wife what we're like. Then she can make an informed decision.

If I brought my wife, she would just laugh at us the entire time, muttering under her breath "Sheesh, do these clowns always waste this much time talking about such patent utter nonsense?"

My wife will not be able to get the time off for TAM, so for all intent and purpous I will be single.Of course there is no way in hell she wil let me go alone.

She did survive meeting us once, Dave. So probably she can survive a whole bunch more people...

BTW, did you get the pictures I sent?

This thread could serve as a coordination center for activities for non-Meeting attending spouses/SOs/children.

Ask them what they want to do during the Meeting time, then post it here for others to check the ideas out, pass them along, and then get back to the forum if they're interested.

Ex:

You: Honey, what do you want to do in Vegas.

Wife: I want to eat at the Bellagio buffet, see Hoover Dam and flip the bird at the Real World suite at the Palms.

You: == post that information ==

Other forumite: Hey, my son will be coming along, and he really wants a photo of him flipping the bird at the Real World suite.

Etc.

And then you start making concrete plans.

Thanks for the responses.

I like UnrepentedSinner's idea. Could folks that are coming with a spouse that isn't attending the TAM make a post here?

I haven't been to and of the previous TAM's are there activities open to spouses that haven't paid the entry fee?

Like maybe a dinner or something? Were there many non TAM attending spouses that came last time?

I got one name for the forum to ponder: "Arwin Miewes". Like Chaos, also German.

:p

Are there any reasons why spouses should not participate along with the rest of us?

Sorry Loon, meant to respond.
Yes I did get the pictures and they were greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, I know she survived you guys and I was nervous about how that was going to go. But Cath enjoyed that day greatly.

Ummm, you did meet Pool Boy last year right? He was there with Kitty, but didn't particpate in the Meeting part of TAM. That's what we're referring to. People bringing spoused and such who will be there at the hotel, but not participating in the seminar portion.

In order to participate in the seminar, you need to be registered. One day registrations will be availible if a spouse wants to see a particular speaker. The Lance Burton is availible to all.

And you can participate in all the other shindigs.

Money. At least, for registration for the official meeting stuff.

...come to think of it, Mrs. Merc would probably spend at least that much on slots over the course of the same time...so maybe money is not such an issue.

Hey, it would be great to see Mrs. davefoc again - I had the pleasure of meeting her with you this summer in Chinatown with other L.A. skeptics. I hope she does come; there is a lot she can do in Vegas besides the casinos; shows, shopping, skepchicks PJ party, dancing, the various museums, etc. If she goes to www.vegas.com she can get lots of info.

Oh, and tell her at least a couple of other Christians will be there (one is myself :) ).

Yes, I met Pool Boy, briefly, during the "stuffing-papers-into-too-small-folders" session, before the meeting began. Kittynh had to be nudged quite a bit to give Randi a nice present... :)

.........I'm sure the skepchicks will appreciate that! :D

Not knowing what a "shindig" is, I'll participate anyway... ;)

Bring her to the meeting. Sounds a lot cheaper....
