That was the Columbia. The Challenger disaster was caused by an O-ring malfunction.
I'm sure it was a simple slip of the brain; we've equated shuttle disasters with the name Challenger for so long that it's totally understandable. Still, this deserves at least a [sic] if not a replacement of the name.

I was perusing a story about the current space shuttle mission when I ran across this unbelievable quote. Apparently the shuttle crew were individually offering remembrances about the Challenger disaster and the crew who were unfortunately lost.
Now, I had always understood that the cause of disaster was that a chunk of foam from the external fuel tank had broken off and struck the shuttle during take-off.
