does Jesus have a Son or daughter to carry on the Family tradition?

I wonder.....

IF son of Jesus came to earth to carry on the Family tradition.

what would he do?
how would he be tortured and killed? in a modern day...

If Jesus did have a son (which is not at all unlikely, considering that Jesus was about 30 years old when we first have much information on him other than his birth) then he would be long long dead by now. Numerous writers have speculated on the continuation of Jesus' line, with The DaVinci Code being one of the most recently popular fictionalized extrapolations.

But what makes you think the decendant of Jesus would be tortured and killed? Seems like there would be plenty of protection for him these days.

Have you read the Da Vinci code?

As to the last question; depends on which side of the wall he lands on :boggled:

Well, I don't think that a person claiming to be the son/daughter/descendant of Jesus would be tortured and killed. Those who belived his claims would probably worship him. The rest of the world would think he was a nut, and not bother with him.

Second Son was an interesting novel I read over 20 years ago--no clue to the author anymore.

Guy had to prevent a nuclear strike on Colorado, IIRC. I remember enjoying it, but wonder how 20 years' perspective might alter that perception?

Anyway....

ETA: Oh, and he was supposedly God's second son.

Sounds like 'God's Other Son' by Don Imus.

Jesus was supposedly a human/god hybrid, or, if Mary was just a vessel, any children Jesus might have had would be hybrids. In nature hybrids are usually infertile, so the line would have stopped there.

I considered it to be a moderately good chase and mystery book ruined by far too much conspiracy theory nonsense. I do believe that every single halfbrain theory that any character suggests during the chase section is either fully revealed to be true or suggested strongly with a wink and a nudge for good measure. When they stopped running, it bogged down and died.

I have to think that if a true historical Jesus had any offspring it would have appeared in many of the non-canon gospels. Even more, I suspect it would have undermined what we know of early Catholocism, considering the power struggle during the first century. Someone would have trotted out Jesus Jr as the standard-bearer for their side or would have linked themselves as direct followers of his ministry to his father.

Although I suppose Scientology is an interesting counter argument. L Ron Junior has never played a significant role in the power base of the church during or after his father's life. However, given how quickly and effectively David Miscavidge wrapped up the reins, maybe the early Catholic church was too disjointed or didn't have anyone with the same drive and skill to hold the wheel.

Only Begotten Daughter by James Morrow is a good novel that touches on this subject.
